Buying a sex toy can still feel a bit seedy or X-rated. Like you have to jump online in the middle of the night on a private internet browser.
But the numbers tell us we’re buying more sex toys than ever. In fact, people around the world dropped US $15 billion on adult pleasure products alone in 2017. That’s a lot of sex toys.
But how are you meant to know which one to spend your money on?
Did you know there are lots of ways women can orgasm? Here’s a quick(ie) run down below. Post continues after video.
According to new data released by online sex toy retailer Lovehoney, Aussies are buying good ole rabbit vibrators and bullet vibrators. The realistic dildos category is also on the rise (geddit?).
But the most reviewed and loved sex toy Aussie women are buying isn’t any of the above. It’s a clitoral suction vibrator, which kind of says everything you need to know about why it’s so popular.
Specifically, Lovehoney told Mamamia the top-rated sex toy on in their site is the Satisfyer Pro2 Rechargeable Clitoral Stimulator, $79.95.
Lovehoney's data puts this toy in bedroom drawers around the country, and was the highest-rated sex toy in Queensland, the NT and Victoria. More on the highest-rated toys by state later.
It's not hard to understand why this toy is a winner.
We know 70-80 per cent of women require clitoral stimulation to experience an orgasm, so investing in a sex toy that focuses on stimulating your clit with a small suction attachment resembling a throbbing black hole is just smart.
As you can see, the Satisfyer Pro2 Rechargeable Clitoral Stimulator looks a fair bit like the thing your GP uses to peek into your ears. It features 11 settings and "pressure wave simulation" to replicate what great oral sex feels like. You can also use it with a water-based lubricant on land (i.e. in bed, on the couch etc.) or in the bath. Yep, it's waterproof.
This toy is very similar to another popular clitoral suction sex toy, the Womanizer Liberty, $149 (you can read Mamamia's review of the Womanizer here).
The main differences, without getting too technical, are the design (the Womanizer is less bulky and could go undercover as a computer mouse) and the price. The Satisfyer Pro2 is $70 cheaper, therefore making it a very excellent entry level toy for a clitoral suction first-timer.
Now, onto the most popular sex toys around Australia by state. The results might surprise you.
