A letter Thomas Markle claims is from his daughter Meghan has been published in full by a UK news outlet.
The five-page letter, which may or may not actually be from the Duchess of Sussex, was published by the Mail on Sunday and features her pleas for her dad to “stop lying” and “exploiting my relationship with my husband”.
The letter also states Thomas has “broken [her] heart into a million pieces” by creating “unnecessary and unwarranted pain” and refusing to tell the truth.
An excerpt shows that in neat cursive handwriting, the letter addresses each of the 74-year-old’s claims.
“You’ve told the press that you called me to say you weren’t coming to the wedding — that didn’t happen because you never called,” it reads.
“You’ve said I never helped you financially and you’ve never asked me for help with is also untrue.”
“I have only ever loved, protected, and defended you, offering whatever financial support I could worrying about your health … and always asking how I could help.”
If from Meghan, it also reveals that she found out about her father's heart attack days before her wedding to Prince Harry by reading it in a tabloid, which was "horrifying".
It claims Thomas refused to answer Meghan's calls and texts, choosing only to speak to the media and that he hasn't reached out to her since the week of the wedding. It also refers to Samantha Markle as his "other daughter, who I barely know".
"If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop," the letter reads.
"Please allow us to live our lives in peace.
"Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband."
While it does seem to match the Duchess' handwriting, we're still a little sceptical of the letter's authenticity.
Either way, releasing the letter to a UK newspaper is yet another betrayal of trust from the dad who has previously claimed to just want a relationship with his daughter.
Markle told the Mail on Sunday that he only released the letter because he wanted to refute the claims made by her friends to People magazine.
"I thought it would be an olive branch. Instead, it was a dagger to the heart," he said of the letter.
But all it seems to do is confirm her friends' accounts of their deeply fractured relationship.
As always, Kensington Palace has remained tight-lipped. No public statement responding to the letter has been published on any of the royal family's social media channels.

Even without the "royal" connection - any pregnant bride would have a tough job dealing with these kinds of demands and willful intrusions.
That's why the observations of this situation are useful to the rest of us.
So Kensington Palace is considering action against Thomas Markle for breach of copyright. They could add breach of confidential information, breach of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress and bring action against Thomas and Samantha and any news organisations that interview them. What point in there in a royal family with all their power, privilege and resources if they do not use it to prevent damage to a mother and unborn child, who is a new member of their own family? The bullying of her is a prime example of extreme emotional and psychological abuse.
