The hardest working summer dress every woman should own.

Crochet is to summer what wool is to winter.

Picture yourself wearing a beachy dress with an Aperol Spritz in one hand and a good book in the other – it's the ultimate combination for warm weather

Yes, it can look a bit intimidating, anything sheer usually is, but it's a lot more versatile than you think.

Watch: Fashion Crimes: Festival Chaps. Post continues below.

It's a fabric that is something of a chameleon, able to transform into anything you want it to be.

Pair it with cowboy boots if you want to give off boho vibes, or sandals if you want the world to think you're effortlessly chic. It can also work as a bikini cover-up, or a nice dinner dress when paired with heels.

A crochet dress paired with a basket bag and tan sandals is an outfit formula that will never fail. Image: Instagram @bubblyaquarius.

It’s the perfect throw-on, and if the transparency of it scares you, you can wear a slip underneath for more coverage.

So, without further ado, take a look at some of our favourite crochet dresses for summer.

I think it should be acknowledged that crochet is not able to be made by machine, so every piece of crochet has been laboriously handmade by someone somewhere. So I'd be very careful about where I bought these pieces from if you are trying to be more ethical in your fashion choices.

I was thinking that and thought that crochet was probably used very loosly.
The crochet dress I was considering was $500, which i thought was an ok price.
