I think it should be acknowledged that crochet is not able to be made by machine, so every piece of crochet has been laboriously handmade by someone somewhere. So I'd be very careful about where I bought these pieces from if you are trying to be more ethical in your fashion choices.

If the author and others feel a strong urge to be a full time primary carer to their children, to not pursue a career during this time and not utilise child care, that should be supported as their choice. The insinuation that women/mothers would sort of fall into the primary carer role (or should want to) because of innate biology is reductive and dangerous. Similar rhetoric is used to shame women into 'choosing' this role out of guilt, I have seen this in my own religion and culture.
