Met Gala is fashion's night of nights, but everyone knows it's the after parties where the wildest and most surprising looks arise.
With the famed steps of Manhattan's Metropolitan Museum of Art having seen the most action they'll get for one evening, Hollywood royalty shed their theatrical garbs and dazzle us into the night (and even into the early hours of the morning).
This year, the Met Gala's official dress code was "The Garden of Time", which goes hand in hand with the Costume Institute's latest exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion".
J.G. Ballard's short story of the same title, The Garden of Time, inspired the theme, and it was undeniably one of the Met Gala's looser dress codes.
The biggest names in film, music, TV and fashion turned it on for the red carpet, but as the sun went down those elevated ballgowns were swapped for something a little more daring and risqué.
