Celeb in 5: Friday's best entertainment and gossip news.

1. “I usually love a challenge but this one has proven quite difficult…” Alex Nation on the sad reality of life after winning The Bachelor.

She went on The Bachelor looking for love… and the chance to be an ‘influencer’, apparently.

But two years later, and Alex Nation is finding out just how fickle a life in the limelight can be.

The 26-year-old single mum says she’s been forced to return to more conventional work after her career as an Instagram ‘influencer’ kind of, well, flopped.

“The reality is for me, sponsored Instagram posts weren’t sustainable enough and I really wanted a full time job/career. So I went out and got it and I f***ing love it!” she posted to her Instagram on Friday.

And while she may be enjoying her new career, Alex says she she’s been missing the time she used to spend with her young son, Elijah.

“I usually love a challenge but lately this one has proven quite difficult,” she wrote.

“I’ve gone from spending almost all of my time with Elijah to working full time, getting home at 7 just in time for bunk bed snuggles and doing readers. I’m exhausted. I miss him and crave the time I had with him when I was working sporadically and doing sponsored posts.”

Yep, we feel you Alex.

2. Salim Mehajer’s girlfriend woke up to find masked men standing over her with a crow bar.

Well, this is terrifying.

Melissa Tysoe – better known as the girlfriend of Salim Mehajer, 31 – said she was staying over at her boyfriend’s place when his house was robbed.

“I woke up to them with their masks and their crow bars, standing over the bed,” she told the Kyle & Jackie O radio show.

Even more disturbingly, Melissa said they broke in twice.

3. Serena Williams has spoken about her struggle with postnatal depression.

Postnatal depression is something a lot of women experience – including Serena Williams.

In a new interview with UK Harper’s Bazaar magazine, the 36-year-old tennis champion opened up about her struggles after welcoming her first child, nine-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia, with her fiance, Alexis Ohanian, 35.

“I remember one day, I couldn’t find Olympia’s bottle and I got so upset I started crying… because I wanted to be perfect for her,” she told the publication.

Serena thinks Olympia’s difficult birth was a contributing factor in her depression.

“One minute, everything’s going according to plan, and then I’m being wheeled off for surgery,” she said.

“Sometimes I think I still have to deal with it,” she added.

“I think people have to talk about it more because it’s almost like the fourth trimester, it’s part of pregnancy.”

4. Jessica Alba on the “terrible” parenting habit she just can’t seem to stop.

Celebrities aren’t always the easiest to relate to, but actress Jessica Alba is proving she’s just like everyone else when it comes to making parenting mistakes.

On the cover of InStyle this month, Alba shares her life as the mother of her three children: Honor, 10, Haven, six, and Hayes, five months. Side note: we think she has a thing for names that start with ‘H’.

In the interview, Alba revealed that there are some habits that she isn’t all that proud of.

“I have this terrible habit: Whenever my kids ask me to find something, they’re like, ‘Mum, where’s my …’ you know, backpack, toothbrush, whatever,” she explained.

“And I just say, ‘Up your butt,’ and that’s probably bad parenting.

“But they got to a certain age where I’m like, ‘That’s where it is: It’s up your butt.’ ”

She might think it’s bad parenting, but we think it’s kind of hilarious.

5. The wedding gifts Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being forced to return.

Ahhh, the life of marrying into the Royal Family...

Newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly must return the gifts they received at their wedding on May 19 from those who they do not know personally.

According to Royal protocol, “Gifts offered by private individuals living in the UK not personally known to the Member of the Royal Family should be refused where there are concerns about the propriety or motives of the donor or the gift itself”.

The rule also applies to businesses who might “exploit the gift for commercial purposes”. According to Express, personalised gift company Bags of Love, sent the couple a matching bikini and swimming shorts for their honeymoon in a bid for publicity.

Don't you hate it when you get too many gifts at your wedding! Ugh!

I find, as someone with a real job (as Alex Nation claims to have now), that I don't have time to feed, curate and drum up a social media presence. Perhaps she would obtain more balance in her life if she put the phone down and retired from the SM hustle altogether?

Why is it a "sad reality" for Alex Nation to have to go back to a real job? Pretty much everyone I know is in the same situation of trying to balance work and getting enough time with their kids. I would think that coming off a reality show and just expecting to become an 'influencer' straight away with little effort was pretty unrealistic. As dismissive as a lot of us are about this whole influencer thing, it does actually seem to require a bit of work. (I notice the Daily Mail has the same 'sad reality' line in their headline for this story too - bit of a weird coincidence, isn't it?)

Admittedly, I'd be pretty sad too if I'd temporarily made enough money to live off from doing very little, then had to thud back to reality and get a real job.
