He saw her on The Voice. Contacted her on Facebook. Last week, they got married.

As far as “how did you meet?” stories go, this one is fairly hard to beat.

When Paul Miller happened to see Perth singer Louise Anton’s audition on The Voice in 2013, he was immediately pretty smitten.

So he did what any self-respecting 21st century Casanova would do – a bit of innocent social media “stalking”.

After asking her out via Facebook three times, his persistence paid off – Anton finally said yes.

Related: She won The Voice. And then she vanished.

And ten months later, she said yes again – after he proposed immediately after finishing the 19.7km Rottnest Channel Swim for charity (yep, he had the diamond ring strapped to his ankle the whole time. Now that’s commitment).

Louise admitted that she was originally quite hesitant to meet up with her “stalker” – but she was won over by Paul’s politeness when he began his Facebook messages with “Dear Louise.”

The loved-up couple appeared on Today this morning where they shared snaps from their recent wedding on Rottnest Island.

Louise and Paul are now spending time with Paul’s three children who are visiting Australia from England. They plan on honeymooning later in the year.

Congratulations you two – WHAT A STORY.

How did you meet your partner – can you beat Louise and Paul’s story?

Question worth asking: How does Louise Anton even get onto "The Voice"? She is a long-standing professional singer. She was one of 'The Nissan Cedrics' that appeared for years and years on the many versions of The Roy and HG shows (of various names) on the ABC.
Louise was also a long time back-up singer to Ian Turpie on the club circuit.
I assumed that 'The Voice' was for amateurs trying to crack the industry.
Anton was already in the industry.

So was the singer from Leonardo's Bride and Guy Sebastian's back up singer. As long as you are not signed with anyone you are allowed to go on the singing competitions

I've not heard of Louise Anton before this article but she wouldn't be the first pro to get a look-in on one of these shoes. I mean, Abby Dobson was a contestant on The Voice and she fronted a band that had a massive hit single in the late 90s. Mahalia Barnes has been performing for a long time too and she was another contestant.

I just checked and the only criteria to audition is that you are over 16 and a citizen of Australia, NZ or a permanent resident of Australia. Whether that should or shouldn't be the case or not is definitely debatable but it doesn't seem like Louise broke any rules to get on the show.

But Louise Anton is signed with someone ... Sony Music. And her work (as a single artist and as part of a duo) is on sale at ABC Music and iTunes.

As I said in my post, the only conditions are to be over 16 and to be a citizen of Australia, NZ or a permanent resident of Australia. There doesn't appear to be any requirement to not be signed to a label. I think there was with Australian Idol, years ago, but apparently not with The Voice.
