In another blow to the Australian broadcaster, Channel Ten is being sued by a former I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant for ‘fraud’.
Tom Arnold, who appeared on the most recent season of the reality TV show claims he is still owed US $140,000 (AU $184,000) from the network for his appearance.
Widely labelled the most miserable celebrity contestant ever, Arnold is also accusing Ten of defrauding him into clearing his work schedule for a follow-up stand-up comedy show that never went ahead.
According to Arnold, his participation in I'm A Celebrity was contingent on payment of US $425,000 (AU $560,000) and a nationwide comedy tour to justify the "significant personal inconvenience and hardship" contestants face in the jungle.
Arnold's legal representation, Marty Singer has filed a suit for fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation and breach of oral contract on the comedian's behalf.
Speaking to news.com.au, Singer says the star's negative editing and portrayal on the show jeopardised his commercial popularity.
"Network Ten ensured Arnold that its depiction of Arnold on the program would not endanger the Australian comedy tour," he said.
"It was agreed orally and confirmed in writing that the guaranteed compensation to be paid for the two engagements — as a package — would be $425,000."
In a statement released to Mamamia, a Ten Spokesperson has denied the allegations.
"All amounts owed to Tom Arnold by Network Ten have been paid. We have fully discharged all our obligations to Tom Arnold. And we have received no notice of any legal proceedings."
Channel Ten is also making headlines this week after the network was placed into voluntary administration, placing a question mark over some of our favourite shows including The Bachelor and The Project.

Tom Arnold just whinged, whined and name-dropped the whole (short) time he was on. Channel Ten should be suing him.
Well you can't get blood out of a stone. He was trouble from the start
