Open Post: How's your week been?

By NICKY CHAMP

Howdy! I’m Nicky and I’ll be your host for Open Post today so strap yourselves in, pour a cuppa, crack open the Tim Tams or whatever gets you through the rest of this hump day.

If you haven’t stumbled on this age old Mamamia tradition before, this is a space where we share what’s been happening in our respective world’s this week. The ups the downs, the happy, the sad and everything in between. And you guessed it, I’m going to go first.

Last night I became an Aunty for the fifth time, my brother and his fiance gave birth to a baby boy, Drew, and I can’t wait to meet the new pink squishy bundle of joy.

Other than you know, new life, there hasn’t been much going on for me this week. It’s school holidays so I’m doing my best to avoid those envy-inducing beach shots filling my social media feeds but there was one thing that popped up that I wanted to share with you.

Take a look at this movie poster, do you notice anything strange about it?

Now take a look at this one, also promoting The Counsellor:

Did you spot that the men’s faces have lines, stubble, wrinkles and well, actual skin while in the female version the actresses skin has been completely smoothed over?

Don’t feel bad if you didn’t spot it. I didn’t either. I was too busy looking for a really obvious Photoshop fail – like a missing limb –  to notice that Cameron Diaz’s face had been retouched to take on an animated, alien-like quality. And also, how sad is it that we’ve been accustomed to seeing so many images like this it’s now considered normal?

Anyway something to think about, I’ll hand it over to you now.

How’s your week been?

Best: i posted on the Open Post last week and got some great advice about an English guy i met out one night who was being very forward in getting to know me. Fast forward two weeks and we've gone out a couple of times and he is actually a lovely guy. Cute, funny, smart and so kind. I really am attracted to him.
Worst: I broke up with my ex 3 months ago and am so not ready for a relationship. Is it bad that all i think i want from cute english guy is FWB?? Honestly don't think he is on the same page and it's going to be an awkward conversation... what to do!!
