She set a table lit with candles.
She knew he’d be late but she waited up anyway.
Dinner for two while their baby daughter slept peacefully.
She waited deep into the night. Waited and waited.
But he never showed up.
Front-page newspaper headlines, dedicated Facebook pages, headline TV news bulletins and still no word.
On November 26 Nick Eade, 37, left his Dee Why home and headed to work as a producer on Channel 7’s Fast Ed cooking show at the Channel Seven Eveleigh studios in Sydney.
He sent his wife Trish a message at lunchtime “I had a good food meeting, actually it was prob the best one i’ve done to date … won’t be able to get out by 5.30-6 tonight sorry. Love you heaps xx.”
Trish, a cook book author and stylist who’d met her husband through their work put Ruby their two-year old daughter to bed in anticipation of her husband’s arrival home.
That dinner was never eaten.
On December 9, there was some activity on a bank card around Brookvale, but police have yet to access closed circuit television pictures to verify it was Eade operating his account.
A day later his silver-blue Toyota Corolla station wagon was found at Cremorne with parking tickets dating back at least a week, his mobile phone inside.
‘‘Originally, I thought he might have been mugged in Redfern but the car was found. I’m now thinking maybe he had some depression. I really wish I knew the answers.’’ she told the Sydney Morning Herald.
The Facebook page they have launched to help find Nick pleads with posters to look around their local pub, the beach or RSL.
Trish says he was a devoted father to Ruby – and his two daughters from a previous marriage.
Trish posted to Facebook the anguish her and her daughter were going through, “Our poor little Ruby is crying in her sleep” she wrote.
In their search his wife and family distributed “Missing” posters featuring his distinctive tattoos and his larrikin grin. They also actively sought out media appearances and publicity to spread the word.
“None of this makes any sense.” Trish told News Limited.
“He had such a wonderful relationship with Ruby, with me, with his whole family,” she said.
“There was no indication anything was wrong.”
“We worked together so we are extremely close and I would have known if something was worrying him.”
She just hoped he just needed some time out by himself and will come home.
The Facebook page is inundated – from messages of support, to offers from psychics, to potential sightings.
His wife just wants him to come home.
Her last post on the page says, “Weekends, are just not the same without your husband and father of your child, by your side
I thought with all the media, he would be home safe by now
Where are you Nick?
Come home xxxxxxxx “

My deepest sympathy to all of Nick's family and wife and child. It must be unbearable news. Know there are thousands of us out there who have been following this story are sending you all love and support at this time
My dad at the age of 56 went missing on the Northern beaches of Sydney almost 4 months ago.... it was completely out of character also. The anguish of not knowing where a loved one is, is breathtaking. No sleep, no eating, anxiety, fear, sick with worry.... And one of the worse things for our family was the lack of help and support. We did not know where to turn to. The police in our opinion didn't seem to do much except "be on the look out for his vehicle". It was so frustrating. We didn't know how to get the media's attention... My family and I all turned into what seemed like detectives trying to piece all the pieces together....no bank activity for 12 days, we found out he had lost his job and feared for his mental state. Unfortunately the end to our story was not a happy one....a family member (not even the police!) found my father after searching and searching passed away in his car 13 days after we reported him missing. However, he had only been dead up to 24hrs before he was found.... there are 12 days completely unaccounted for and we have no answers. heart breaking. I don't write this to be negative or say that this case will end like my father's story, because I don't believe that at all...I think it is VERY positive that there has been a sighting and that the media and so many people are on the look out....
I wrote this to say to this man's family that my prayers are with you, and i KNOW you're anguish. I pray you find your Daddy & husband and have your christmas miracle.
