MH370's black box beacon battery was expired, a new report reveals.

It has been a year since MH370 disappeared, but a new report reveals horrible information about the missing flight.

A report into the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 has revealed the battery of its underwater locator beacon expired in 2012.

The black box function could have been vital in recovering the flight, which is now assumed to have crashed into the Indian Ocean, on March 8 2014.

The 600-page interim report found the locator battery expired in December 2012 but was not reported, the ABC reports.

There were 12 crew and 227 passengers on the flight, but, despite in-depth investigation into the pilots and crew, it is not believed anyone hijacked the plane.

Previously, people speculated that the MH370 pilots were involved in the tragedy. However, investigations into the captains and crew members, including their personal, psychological and financial histories, returned no evidence to support these theories.

Sadly, there has been little progress in recovering the flight, which is believed to have travelled thousands of kilometres off-course before crashing into the ocean.

Families of passengers on-board MH370 attended vigils around the world on the anniversary of the flight’s disappearance.

Investigations are ongoing.

Malaysia Airlines may want to consider rebranding as their flight sales are going to plummet with this latest development.
