The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has had a baby shower in New York, and it was as glamorous as you’d expect it to be.
The shower was held at The Mark hotel in Manhattan this week for the Duchess, who is approximately seven months pregnant. The world’s press was staked outside, trying to snap Markle and whomever was on the guest list. Attendees were Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, Amal Clooney, Jessica Mulroney, Serena Williams, and Gayle King (better known as Oprah’s BFF).
Tennis champion Williams, who posted an Instagram snap from The Mark’s signature bathrooms, is reportedly responsible for throwing the shower – and paying for it.
The media has been reporting since November 2018 that the sister-in-laws, both 37, have been feuding. It was, in fact, on November 23, when the news broke that Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, 34, were moving out of Kensington Palace – and The Sun reported they suspected a feud in the family.
Ever since then, the women have been regularly pitted against each other in the media. According to sources at the Daily Mail, “Kate and Meghan are very different people,” who “don’t really get on”.
“There is no doubt,” the publication surmised, “that Harry’s marriage to Meghan has hastened the brothers’ decision to go their separate ways in terms of living arrangements”.
Adding to the reported ‘tension’, Meghan has also in this time been labelled ‘problematic‘ for her desire to make her mark/introduce change into the royal household.
LISTEN: The reason there is gossip about Meghan Markle is because she is not allowed to speak for herself…
So is this the reason why the Kate was not at Meghan’s shower? Well, no.
The Sun revealed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and their three children, George (five), Charlotte (three) and Louis (nine months), are on a “snow filled holiday” during their school mid-term break.
Even though they’re royalty, thanks to Prince George, who is in Year 1 at Thomas’ school in Battersea, London, the Cambridges must adhere to the school term like everyone else; meaning that right now is the perfect time for a family ski trip.
It’s important to note this is not the first time the Cambridges have travelled together at this time of year. In March 2016, the family released a photo of them holidaying in the French Alps.
Furthermore, Royal expert Omid Scobie reports Markle is planning a second baby shower at her new home in London. Scobie tweeted earlier this week that according to his sources, Markle has “a smaller gathering scheduled for pals on this side of the pond.”
More evidence that Middleton’s absence from Markle’s New York baby shower is not representative of a feud, is that Markle’s own mother, Doria Ragland, did not attend. Presumably, she will, like Middleton, attend her daughter’s second celebration that is most-likely more family-oriented.

Beatrice lives in New York and wasn't invited. This was a baby shower for her intimate friends - the makeup artist, stylist, etc. Meghan should be wondering what Amal Clooney will want in return for the plane trip. Godmother perhaps?
Seems they couldn't send the jet over to LA to pick up Doria to attend the shower, either. Clearly the event was just for people who had something to merch.
Or maybe she wanted no part of being a prop in Meghan's grab for publicity and attention?
