Mariah Carey has a surprising new beau. And he's Australian.

World, we’re proud to introduce the new celebrity power couple known as: ‘Pariah’. Or ‘Maracker’. Or ‘Carey Packer’.

While James Packer and Mariah Carey continue to gallivant on yachts and walk around Italy in loving embraces, Packer’s ex-wife, 44-year-old Jodhi Meares, has joined the new Brangelina on their love boat.

And they all look pretty cozy, according to Instagram.

Packer and Meares have remained close friends in the years since they divorced in 2002. This photo apparently marks Meares giving her ex-wifely blessing on the new couple, which is just wonderful.

Just over a year since James Packer and David Gyngell fought to the death over Miranda Kerr (ok, so maybe it wasn’t about that), it has come to everyone’s urgent attention this morning that Mariah Carey is back on the dating horse. With none other than billionaire James Packer.

Yes, THE Mariah Carey. And THE James Packer.

The unlikely duo were strolling around the south of Italy like a couple of loved-up billionaires would. TMZ got the pics:

TMZ reports that the pair are lounging about Packer’s super yacht for “an extended vacation”.

Mariah split from her husband, Nick Cannon, 12 months ago, and the couple filed for divorce in January. Packer has previously been linked to a number of models (Miranda Kerr, Jennifer Flavin) and has even been engaged to or married a few (Kate Fisher, Jodhi Meares, Erica Baxter).

The question on everyone’s lips (ok, so the first question is: Is he funny or something?, so this is technically the second question): How did this unexpected couple meet? Apparently they met through Brett Ratner – one of Mimi’s friends, her producer and rumoured ex-lover.

The Sunday Telegraph has the low down and says that the pair met in 2013 when both Mariah and James were still married. Packer was staying with Brett Ratner in Aspen, when they decided to invite Mariah over to “hang out”. Apparently the two had chemistry straight away and became buddies, but Packer only started “aggressively” pursuing Mariah a few months ago.

The good word is that they’ve been together for a few weeks.

Mariah is clearly very relaxed with Packer, because she has brought her kids along with her on this romantic trip to the Mediterranean aboard Packer’s luxury yacht, the Arctic P.
