I refuse to get married.
Not because I don't believe in marriage, or think a wedding is a waste of money. Instead, I simply have read far too many horror stories.
Tales of drunken Scottish groomsmen accidentally flashing attendees, an elaborate wedding cake being dropped on the floor, a bridesmaid vomiting into her bouquet and the bride's dress being ruined in the wheel of the horse-drawn carriage. And these are all just examples from my own family circle.
Given I'm 23, I will perhaps change my mind on this resistance towards weddings and marriage later in life. Maybe I will mature as an individual – or find a certain special someone who will convince me otherwise that weddings are a must-do. But until then, I will continue to devour nightmare wedding stories with a combination of shock and laughter – and I implore you to do the same.
So without further ado, here are 23 chaotic disasters from the women who experienced them. Read at your own risk.
"Our wedding was on the hottest day in history in February 2017 – plus it was an outdoor ceremony and reception in a shed with no air-con."
"I got my contact lens stuck in my eye and had to go to the ER at four in the morning while still in my wedding dress."
"When my sister got married, she accidentally had the train of her wedding dress caught under the golf buggy, and she fell over as a result AND managed to rip off her toenail. Getting the dress caught underneath the golf buggy also shredded the whole bottom of the garment."
