Justice at last. The men who attacked Malala have been sentenced.

More than two years since teenage Malala Yousafzai survived being shot in the head by Taliban militants, her attackers have been brought to justice.

The men who attempted to kill Pakistani school girl and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai have been sentenced for their crimes.

A Pakistani court jailed the 10 men for life, for the attempted shooting of the teenager in 2012 while she traveled home from school.

Malala, now 17, was targeted when she was just 15 for speaking out against the Taliban for denying girls an education. The militant group then claimed responsibility for the attempted assassination of Malala, and a group of men were arrested.

“Ten attackers who were involved in the attack on Malala Yousafzai have been sentenced to life imprisonment,” a court official told AFP news agency.

Life prison sentences in Pakistan are 25 years.

However, ABC News reports this is only the first round of sentencing for a number of men involved in the plot; None of the four of five men who actually carried out the attack were among the 10 men sentenced.

A police official in Swat, the town where the attack took place, said the men who received life sentences “certainly had a role in the planning and execution of the assassination attempt on Malala.”

Post continues after gallery:

Ataullah Khan, the man suspected of firing the gun at Malala, is believed to be on the run in Afghanistan, along with Pakistani Taliban chief Mullah Fazlullah, who ordered the attack.

After the attack, Malala was transferred to Britain for treatment where she now lives. Last year, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her campaigning for girls’ education.

Do you think this is a fitting punishment for Malala’s attackers?

Religious fundamentalists never believe that they're wrong........they live under the delusion that no-one will ever criticize them or say no to them.
Many of the men in Pakistan are horrible, wicked misogynists and their version of religion tells them that they're righteous & blameless...........if it could be proved to them that their attitudes are wrong they might be shocked to the core - but that's not likely.

The very thing that Malala stands for, EDUCATION, is the only thing that might save them........that and a complete overhaul of that country's mental health system.

Good thing too.Ever notice that the two things all religious zealots fear are women and education.Put the two together and they cant cope with that at all.
