Jetstar crew member makes bizarre announcement. Cue: national outrage.

Jetstar has apologised after a cabin crew member warned passengers to flush any drugs they were carrying down the toilet.

The staffer warned passengers returning from the Splendour In The Grass music festival that drug-sniffing dogs were waiting at Sydney Airport, the ABC reports.

News.com.au reports a crew member on a flight on Sunday told passengers: “We have been told there are sniffer dogs and quarantine officers waiting in the domestic terminal.”

“If you need to dispose of anything you shouldn’t have we suggest you flush it now,” the crew member reportedly added.

The airline later apologised for the incident. It said the casually-employed staffer was complying with a requirement that airlines make quarantine announcements, but admitted the crew member’s words were ‘poorly chosen’, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The airline added it was addressing the matter with the relevant crew member.

News.com.au reports there was allegedly ‘a rush for the toilets’ following the surprising announcement.

My thoughts exactly. They must have only been listening to the music.
