Jessa (Duggar) Seewald, star of reality t.v. show ‘Counting On’ released a statement earlier in the week confirming that she and husband Ben are expecting their second child, only nine months after welcoming their son, Spurgeon.
And while they are yet to find out the sex of their new baby, they are already thinking about names for the little one.
“We are overjoyed to announce that Spurgeon has a new title in life as ‘big brother!’” the couple said in an exclusive statement to People.
“We are so thankful that God is adding to our family.”
She went on to say, “2017 is shaping up to be a wonderful year already, and we know Spurgeon will do a great job in his new role. Having Spurgeon has been such a wonderful blessing, and we cannot wait to see the face of this sweet new baby (or babies!).”

The Duggar Seewalds no doubt chose an unusual moniker for their first son and have explained that he was named after Charles Spurgeon who was a preacher back in the 1800's. His following was so great that Spurgeon College, a theological school, was named for him.
Speaking to People magazine during her first pregnancy Jessa explained that she and Ben had gone through a lot of thinking when it came to naming their baby.
"We talked about family names," she said. "Maybe Benjamin Michael the second. But Ben didn't like that. We've talked about incorporating a family name"
Jessa was quick to shoot down any suggestion that she would stick with her family's tendency to name all of the children using names which begin with the same letter. "We don't want a letter theme," she told People . "The only theme we might have are using names of heroes from the Christian faith."

I honestly feel like Spurgeon is one of the most unpleasant sounds or words I have ever heard, let alone name!
Unlike most people this child will encounter in the future, I do understand the history of the name, however, it does not really roll off the tongue and ultimately, it's not gonna' end well for the kid.
I'll be honest. The first thing I thought was a sturgeon.
