Everyone’s favourite radio duo/humans, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, have announced they’ll be returning to our screens in 2017 with a brand new series.
The pair excitedly shared the news this morning on The Today Show from the decks of The People’s Cruise – where they’re currently in the South Pacific partying with some lucky listeners. Because of course they are.
Details about the new show were slim, because their broadcast was slightly interrupted by poor reception and/or the fact that they seemingly demanded the Today hosts speak to them in ship-specific lingo.
What we do know is that it won’t be another installment of their Gap Year shows.
Speaking to News Corp recently on the set of The Wrong Girl, a drama based on the novel of the same name by Zoe Foster Blake, Hamish suggested that he was in the middle of putting together a new show for next year.
“It’s not like anything we’ve ever done before so it won’t be a travel show or anything like that,” he said.
Watch Hamish and Zoe being characteristically hilarious on ‘Have You Been Paying Attention’.
So what will it be? We’ve got some guesses.
Maybe they’ll get Andy to babysit Sonny Blake (or I could do that. I’m willing to sacrifice everything to hang out with him available).
Maybe they’ll do a parody of what it’s like to work in radio. Although their career is pretty much dedicated to doing that anyway.
Maybe they’ll do a show comprised solely of pranking people. Or try to break a world record, like they did with ‘Hamish’s year of one thousand pranks.’
No matter what, we’re sure it’ll be silly and ridiculous and brilliant, just like everything Hamish and Andy have done in the past. And if the success of their Gap Year series is anything to go by, we’ll be instant fans.
