With the Spring Racing Carnival over, let’s take a minute to think about the thousands of pairs of sore feet currently being nursed by racegoers following days in high heels.
Ouch.
However there’s one celebrity attendee likely kicking her feet up in glee.
Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew finished up the Spring Racing season at Stakes Day in a metallic By Johnny dress and matching silver Witchery shoes – but she had a trick up her sleeve(less dress) to avoid joining the legions of sore-footed guests.
A spare pair of stylish shoes – without the heel.
“Fact V Fiction. $15 Target sandals that saved my Spring Carnival bacon. And by bacon, I mean feet,” she captioned the photo of both pairs of shoes.
Simple, metallic sandal/slides for under $20? They’re almost a waste as a back up shoe. (Post continues after gallery.)
Melbourne Cup style.
Even better, the ‘Tesni Strapped Sandal’ is available in three different colours – Bartholomew’s favoured silver, black or denim.
Your feet (and your wallet) will thank you.

If I could share a photo on here of my wedding shoes I would. I went to a ball about two months before my wedding and wore what were going to be my wedding shoes. I hobbled around in pain all night. They were SO uncomfortable, even though they were lovely to look at. The next day I went shopping and bought an awesome pair of gold lacoste trainers for the wedding and wore them. I was so comfy and nobody could see them under my dress anyway. If I'd worn the heels my day would have been marred by sore, aching feet.
here's an idea - how about we just stop wearing uncomfortable shoes just because we are told we should wear heels to look fancy?
i stopped wearing heels years ago - i no longer care about peer pressure - and i am so much happier because of it. if you can't wear your shoes for the whole day - why wear them at all?
