The beautiful red trend that is sweeping Oaks Day fashion this year.

No, it’s not over yet.

Your Melbourne Cup hangover might have finally subsided, but we’ve still got a few race days left in the calendar.

Today it’s Oaks Day (AKA Ladies Day… AKA the day men flock to the racecourse because, well, ‘Ladies Day’) and the look is traditionally floaty and feminine. The result? Fashion that is as fun and colourful as ever.

Interestingly, almost everyone seems to have had the same outfit inspiration in their heads when they got up this morning – RED.

All about the frill ????????

Must be something in the champagne.

The key colour from the sunset trend that dominated earlier in the week continues to be a popular choice amongst the VIP attendees. Others have gone for a slight variation with burgundy.

Meanwhile, Bec Hewitt started a trend of her own in a gorgeous, crimped, stripey, floaty dress with a cute cut-out on one side. High-low dresses (otherwise known as mullet dresses) have had their day, but Hewitt’s look is a fresh, fun take on uneven hemlines that we’re loving.

Plus, the sun is shining in Melbourne so no need for gumboots. So please, procrastinate from your office desk and click through a gallery of all the frocks guilt-free.
