How Meghan Markle's thumb indicates she could have an 'easy' birth.

Any woman who’s given birth will tell you there’s no such thing as an easy one – but certainly, some are more complicated than others. But in excellent news for The Duchess of Sussex, who is currently approximately six to seven months pregnant, there’s a sign that her childbirth may be easier.

Dr Adam Taylor told Fabulous Digital that Meghan’s ‘hypermobility’ may indicate she will have an easier delivery experience, because she has one very important piece of anatomy: a ‘bendy’ thumb.

Dr Taylor explained that a close inspection of the 37-year-old mum-to-be’s hands indicates she has joint hypermobility – where her joints have a range of mobility outside the normal limits.

The doctor believes this could, ahem, extend, to other areas of the Duchess’s body, including her pelvic area. Taylor, an expert in anatomy at Lancaster Medical School, said hypermobility in a pregnant women, especially ones who practice yoga and are thus most likely flexible, such as Meghan, usually experience an ‘easier’ labour.

“The ligaments of the pelvis, which help hold the pelvis together, are believed to loosen over pregnancy,” he said. “So any more mobility within these from having hypermobility may help make delivery easier too.”

The doctor did warn, however, that looser ligaments in her hands may mean the Duchess should be careful when lifting objects so she doesn't sprain anything. Luckily for Meghan, that shouldn't be too much of an issue; you know, as she's a Duchess and all.

Birth coach Alexandra Kremer also told Fabulous Digital that Meghan should also be aware that having looser ligaments also indicates that she could deliver earlier than expected.

“If Meghan suffers with hypermobility, then it’s likely her care providers will have talked to her about it and looked at all the options," Kremer said.

“This could mean anything from extra joint support like a pelvic belt to planning for an earlier arrival.”

Fabulous Digital also spoke to a scientific hand and fingerprint analyst, Helen Elizabeth Evans who agrees that bendy thumbs may mean a quicker and easier labour. Evans also suggested Meghan’s thumbs indicate she will reject the use of a nanny in preference of raising her child herself.

Explaining that she uses "a 21st century version of palmistry...based on research into more than 50,000 palm-prints, personality tests and medical records," Evans added:

“Straight thumbs indicate people whose head rules their actions, whereas Meghan has curved thumbs, suggesting her heart rules her actions."

We already established last week that Meghan has obviously maintained her flexibility by being able to tie up shoes with ankle straps, so really, news of her extra supple joints comes as no surprise; and we do hope it means the first-time mum will have an 'easier' time when giving birth to the seventh in line to the British throne.

Do you have flexible joints and do you believe that helped in childbirth? Tell us in the comments below.

Good heavens, isn’t it amazing what you can tell about someone simply by looking at their thumbs! 🙄
