Body of young girl located at Pimpama River has been confirmed as 12 year old Tiahleigh Palmer.

Queensland Police have just confirmed the body of a young girl found yesterday at Pimpama River is that of missing 12 year old Tiahleigh Palmer.

Tiahleigh was from Logan City in Queensland and had not been seen since last Friday after leaving Marsden School. Her family had publicly said they held deep concerns for her welfare.

Her body was found by fisherman late Thursday afternoon on the banks of the Pimpama River, near Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Police have been searching through recent missing person reports in the hopes it would lead them to the identity of the body and had made a public appeal for help.

A major crime scene has been established in the area while scientific and forensic officers comb for clues.

What this article doesn't mention is that Tialeigh was a foster kid and her carers tried to file a missing persons report on October 30, the day she disappeared.

A missing persons alert was given to the media on November 5.....SIX days later. Whether she had a history of running away or not is irrelevant. Waiting six days to alert the media of a missing 12 year old child is not ok.

I'm not at all suggesting that her carers had anything to do with her murder, but perhaps the Dept. of childrens services need to look into more frequent welfare checks and guidance for these higher risk kids? It's too easy for them to slip through the cracks and we have a responsibility to provide them with a safe environment.

Hoping we quickly catch the scum that took her and get some justice for this little girl. Rest in peace Tiahleigh xx.
