I’m not kidding around when I say that the world just got a whole lot more exciting.
In a stupendous turn of events, five of the best cult TV shows of all time are going to be available to stream on Stan from today.
From a gripping and violent drama, to a beloved rom-com and the most heroic series to ever grace our eyes, here are all the classic new shows coming to Stan, just for your binge-watching pleasure.
Sons of Anarchy
Sons of Anarchy is the ultimate ride-or-die TV show.
Centering around the drama of a Northern California motorcycle gang who deals in everything from illegal gun-running to drug trading, Sons of Anarchy is very much an action-packed and beautifully brutal TV series.
The show followed Jackson “Jax” Teller (played by Charlie Hunnam) as he navigated his family life and his obligations to the gang across seven seasons of epic storytelling.
Along with the (at times quite blood-thirsty) action scenes of the show, Sons of Anarchy is very much a story about families and the loyalty, betrayal and redemption that comes from their complicated dynamics.
How I Met Your Mother
There’s so much to love about the ultimate romantic-comedy-in-reverse series that is How I Met Your Mother.
Ultimately, the entire series is framed around the love life of New York-based architect Ted Mosby (played by Josh Radnor), who narrates the story of how he met the mother of his children across nine laughter-inducing seasons.
One of the reasons why How I Met Your Mother is one of the most rewatchable shows in the television universe (trust me, I’ve watched it through at least five times) is that it boasts one of the best ensembles to ever frequent the small screen.
The real heart of How I Met Your Mother is the intense and loving bond between Ted and his gang of best friends Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris), and Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders).
How I Met Your Mother is one of those shows that is endlessly quotable and still has an intense cult following to this day, there is still intense debate around the finale. So if you are looking for a comfort watch to lift your mood, this is it.
Grey's Anatomy
Who knew a medical drama could be so sweet, uplifting and just entirely dreamy?
While long-running hospital drama Grey's Anatomy is adept at delivering serious storylines and heartbreaking death scenes (it's best just not to get too attached to anyone on the show, to be honest) it's also delivered some of the most iconic romances to ever appear on TV.
One of the best parts of Grey's Anatomy is that it's now well into season 16 and has shown no sign of slowing down, making it one of the most satisfyingly meaty binge-watches on offer right now.
If you cast your mind all the way back to season one, Grey's Anatomy kicked off with a group of young doctors, including leading lady Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. The storyline follows them through from their days as interns on their path to becoming surgeons.

Family Guy
Yes, at first the somewhat risque animated series Family Guy might come across as a little low-brow, but the more you watch it the clearer it becomes that it's also quietly whip-smart and endlessly funny.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, Family Guy revolves around the Griffin family, consisting of parents Peter (Seth MacFarlane) and Lois (Alex Borstein) and their children Meg (Mila Kunis) Chris (Seth Green) and evil baby Stewie (Seth MacFarlane) and their anthropomorphic pet dog, Brian (once again voiced by the brilliant Seth MacFarlane).
The series is set in the fictional city of Quahog on Rhode Island, and is especially funny when it cuttingly critiques American and popular culture.
If you're not a die-hard fan of animated shows, don't let that hold you back from binge-watching the hilarity that is Family Guy, it's worth it for the comedy of watching Stewie Griffin alone.
and finally, the most iconic cult show of all time...
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a supernatural drama television series based on the 1992 film of the same name and created by TV and film mastermind Joss Whedon.
The show centers on Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) a teenage girl living in sunny California ( and her high school is set over the mouth to hell) who is the Chosen One.
As the Slayer of her generation, she has been gifted with supernatural abilities so she can defeat the vampires, the monsters and the forces of darkness.
Even though Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered more than 20 years ago, it still holds up today, and in fact, could be called the best show that has ever appeared on TV (in my opinion).
It's wickedly funny and delivers an emotional gut-punch with each of its seven seasons. If you have yet to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, now is the time to change your life.

I watched the last season of How I Met Your Mother and then went back and watched the first episode, and quite enjoyed it. I also quite enjoyed the last episode of Lost, even though I'd not watched any other full episode in any season - maybe that's not unrelated, as I didn't have any worries about unresolved storylines or illogical endings or inconsistencies with a character's overall arc or personality that seems to make it hard for devoted fans.
I think you've misunderstood what a 'cult' tv show is. Normally a show with a cult following has a small but devoted fanbase, they are somewhat unknown by the mainstream. Shows like Firefly, Sherlock, Battlestar Galactica. Buffy probably qualifies, but Grey's Anatomy and How I Met Your Mother are as mainstream as they come!
