Everyone's watching America's Sweethearts. This is what happens next for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Netflix's docuseries America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders offers an enthralling look into the world of one of the most iconic cheerleading squads in the NFL.

The show follows the 2023-2024 season, chronicling the journey from auditions through training camp and into the football season. Created by Greg Whiteley, known for the college cheerleading series Cheer, this seven-episode series provides unprecedented access to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The series showcases the intense physical and emotional challenges faced by both rookies and veterans as they compete for coveted spots on the squad.

The documentary delves into various aspects of the cheerleaders' lives, including the pressure to maintain a perfect image, the rigorous training regimen, the safety concerns the women have and the shockingly low salaries they make for their high-profile roles.

Since arriving on Netflix, America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders has remained in the top 10 most watched TV shows which begs the question: will there be more episodes?

Will there be season two of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders

As of now, there is no official confirmation of a second season of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on Netflix. BUT... here's what we do know.

Given its popularity, ranking in Netflix's top TV shows since its release, a renewal seems possible.

The Dallas Cowboys organisation released a statement about a potential second season.

"While plans are currently undetermined for a second season, the Dallas Cowboys are excited to see the response from the world in the early stages of the show's release in anticipation of hopefully signing on for more seasons," the team shared on their website.

It is worth noting that the DCC has previously starred in a long-running series similar to the Netflix show, titled Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, which ran from 2006 to 2022. You can watch that on Paramount Plus.

Greg Whiteley, the series director, has expressed interest in continuing the show. He told Variety, "I felt like we were just starting to get there as we were wrapping up, and I'd love to have more time to see if we can get deeper and deeper with more and more of the team."

In the case of Netflix's Cheer, the 2020 series about the Navarro College cheer squad also directed by Whiteley, this was expected to be a limited series but was renewed after an overwhelming response to its first season.

If a second season were to be produced, it would likely follow a similar timeline to the first season. Given that the 2024-2025 NFL season auditions have already been completed and training camp is underway, filming for a potential second season would need to be happening now if it were to cover the current season.

If renewed, the cast would depend on who makes the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad for the season being filmed. Some familiar faces from season one, like Reece and Anna Kate, have already been confirmed to be back in training camp.

Based on the production timeline of season one, if a second season is greenlit, it could be released about one year after filming begins.

Stay tuned for any official announcements from Whiteley and Netflix regarding a potential second season.

Until then, you can stream America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on Netflix.
