Things you might not know about me: I am VERY good at leaving my keys inside my apartment. Also, I have stupidly high expectations when it comes to foundations.
This is mostly due to the fact that I've put so many on my face - so I've more or less got slightly jaded standards about what a foundation should offer.
But that doesn't mean they have to be super expensive.
I have a very tight group of affordable, everyday foundations that are regulars in my makeup kit and on my face.
While some of these are new contenders that have just slid onto the beauty scene, others have been slinking around my beauty cupboard for years - only to be repurchased time and time again because they're Just. That. Good.
Watch: Before you go ahead and break out your new foundation using a grubby old beauty sponge, here's how to clean your beauty products. Post continues below.
Below, you can find four very fantastic everyday foundations I'm loving right now.
The best part? They're all under 30 bucks.
Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless, $28.
This CoverGirl meets Olay sandwich came across my desk a couple of weeks ago and I just *knew* it was going to be a good time.
It comes with benefits for 'ageing skin' - which means it's that little bit creamier, more hydrating and smoothes the look of lines and pores like a champ.
I'm 31, so I don't think I fit into the 'mature skin' category just yet, but I do have really dry and dehydrated skin that loves a creamier formulation - and for this, it works wonders.
While I usually gravitate towards sheer coverage, this leans more towards a thicker, fuller coverage (you only need a small amount) - BUT it doesn't look heavy or cakey.
It feels so lovely and moisturising on the skin, evening out your tone for a glowy, but not shiny, appearance. My favourite thing? It doesn't accentuate creases and lines or make your skin looks dry like so many others do.
Also, has a pump! I love pumps.
Rimmel London Kind & Free Moisturising Tint Foundation, $19.95.
Yes. A thousand times YES. This tinted foundation from Rimmel is one of my fave picks - and I've been harping on about it for a while now. But here she goes again...
If you prefer a sheer, skin-like finish, THIS is perfect for you. It's one of those everyday wear formulas that can be easily layered for more coverage (while still feeling lightweight and glowy). It stays on your face during the day - and rivals many of the spendier formulas getting around.
I love many things about this formula, but mostly how it lets your freckles and stuff still shine through. Also, the RRP is $19.95, but you can usually pick it up from Chemist Warehouse for around 10 bucks. So cheap!
Designer Brands Hydrating Luminous Foundation, $19.99.
This product is so incredibly underrated. Have you tried it? I discovered DB foundation back when I started out as a beauty editor, and I still wear it and think it's one of the best cheap foundations getting around. It's one of the firm regulars I have on rotation. Why? Because it feels like a fancy formula, without the price tag.
The coverage is excellent and long-lasting and makes your skin look dewy and healthy. It's great for dry skin, but if you're part of the oily camp, just add a touch of powder on your T-zone and it will set it perfectly.
MCoBeauty Miracle Hydra Glow Oil-Free Foundation, $28.
Whenever I see anything about water in a foundation, I get very excited. And you would too if your skin had the hydration of a leather boot.
This dreamy water-based foundation from MCoBeauty contains 60 per cent water (!!!) - it's comfortable, long-wearing and gives off a lovely 'I drink tons of water' kinda glow.
It's just sooo comfortable and easy to wear. While it's both hydrating and lightweight, it still offers the perfect amount of coverage, tackling spots and discolouration.
I slap it on with my fingertips, pop on some concealer and blush and I'm good to go.
Well, that's me. Do you have a favourite savey foundation? Tell us in the comments below! We'd love to know.
