'The $28 foundation I get complimented on every single day.'

PSA: For anyone who hasn't found their perfect foundation yet...

I've got you.

I am well and truly in my makeup era. What does that mean exactly? I've made it one of my many self-care missions to find the perfect makeup products for my skin. And I'm officially calling it: I've found my holy grail foundation.

At first, I didn't actually know that this foundation would be my holy grail until I walked into work.

On the first day of wearing it, I got approximately five compliments on my skin from my coworkers. At first, I thought that I was just pimple-free (for once), until I remembered that I was PMS-ing and had three mini volcanoes ready to erupt. Then I remembered — I was wearing a new foundation.

So what is this supposedly magical foundation you ask?

It's the Bare With Me BLUR Professional Makeup by NYX, and it's a casual $27.99. Yep — my favourite foundation costs the same price as a fancy café lunch.

To be perfectly transparent, my skin runs on the oilier side so I've been leaning into matte-finish foundations. The issue with a lot of the matte foundations I try is that, for some reason, they really accentuate my tiny little bumps and marks that I've collected over the years.

I know, I know — texture is completely normal. It's taken me a while, but I'm slowly learning to love my big pores and little lines. However, when it comes to foundation, I think we can all agree that its one job is to provide coverage and give you that extra little confidence boost.

And this little guy doesn't accentuate those little bumps and marks like some other matte-finish products do.

When I first put on the foundation, I was a little wary because bumps could be SEEN. But before you give up on me, please... trust the system.

In only a few minutes, the foundation looked glowy and dewy, but not — I repeat not — oily. Just like its name, it was giving blur. A win for the girls!

And the best part is, it stayed that way the entire day.

A word of warning...

A note to those who are everyday foundation wearers like myself: this is a small product. Like, only 30ml, which is great if you're travelling or if you have a small handbag, but not so great if you want a product you don't have to repurchase frequently.

Another annoying thing is their limited shade range. They have 10 shades, which I don't think is nearly enough for a foundation line. I have to use a mix of two, 'light medium' and 'deep golden', in a ratio of 3:1.

But while these issues are frustrating, especially for darker skin tones, the formula is worth it for me. The BLUR foundation also won extra points for being able to work with every other product I put on my face — my primer, my contour and my blush. All my other favourite makeup and skincare products glided below and on top, and there was absolutely no pilling in sight (one of my biggest pet peeves with some products).

So if you want your skin to be complimented by quite literally every single person who lays eyes upon you, I definitely recommend giving this one a go.
