He was dead. Hit by a car. Tears were shed. He was buried in the rock hard ground, and then he came back to life. True story.
They are calling him a Zombie Cat.
A cat with truly nine lives.
Something from the LIVING DEAD.
There is talk his name is Church and that he was hit by a truck and buried in a Pet Cemetery. Well, as I said there is talk.
If the idea of a cat getting hit by car being “stiff and cold” being buried deep, deep in the ground and then COMING BACK TO LIFE and CLAWING HIS WAY OUT freaks you right out then you might want to stop reading now.
But if you want to be truly terrified (and maybe a bit uplifted in the end if cats coming back to life are your thing) then join me on this tale because it looks like, for once, it isn’t an Internet hoax.
A cat in Florida, who actually wasn’t named Church has come back from the dead after being buried for five days.
The cat, Bart was hit by a car and buried after the local veterinarian pronounced him dead.
His owner, Ellis Hutson found him in a pool of blood. He was so upset at the sight of his beloved companion dead that he had to ask a friend to help bury him.
“We were so close, I couldn’t stand to bury him,” Hutson said. “I put him on the shoulder of the road and went and got David. He dug a hole and covered up the cat with dirt. I witnessed him bury the cat.”
With his very own eyes.
One newspaper reports that the cat was “cold and stiff”. Sorry for the details but it adds to the fact that the cat was actually, for real, completely and totally dead.
After grieving for nearly a week things got super creepy.
A neighbour who was at home minding her own business heard a scratching at her back porch.
You know where this is headed. Right into FREAKSVILLE.
It was Bart. He was ragged and bloody, and missing an eye.
“I open the door and my neighbor’s standing there with the cat in her hand,” Hutson told ABC News. “She said, ‘Bart is not dead.’ I said, ‘That’s impossible. We buried Bart.'”
But Bart came back.
Thankfully this story has a much less creepier ending than Pet Sematary
(If you don’t know, rent the movie or read the book.. you’’ll understand).
Bart was taken in by the local vet, the very ones who pronounced his life over and is being treated for a broken jaw, open facial wounds and a ruined eye.
The Humane Society veterinarians told ABC News that he is expected to recover in a few days.
The Vet told Fox 13 News “I truly think Bart has nine lives and has eight lives left because it is miraculous what he’s done,” Humane Society of Tampa Bay Executive Director Sherry Silk said.
“This is unbelievable. I don’t have any explanation for it,” Hutson said.
The neighbour who first saw the resurrection says she believes it was a sign from God
“The only thing I can think of is that this is God’s miracle. And I thought, why five days later? If Bart was alive before, he would have come to our homes earlier. All I can think of is that God created animal life on the fifth day.“ she said.
Miracle, maybe. Creepy – a little but all in all a mewment for us all to savour – a happy ending.
