"It changes everything." The wild new theory about Joe and Love's relationship in Netflix's You.

Warning: This post contains spoilers for season two of You. Continue reading at your own risk.

Although it’s only been three weeks since Netflix released season two of You, it’s safe to say fans are already theorising about what’s to come in the next season of the creepy series.

On Wednesday, after weeks of speculation, Netflix finally confirmed that a third season of You is coming to our screens soon.

But while we’ll have to wait until next year to see what’s next for Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), the fan theories about the upcoming series are already rolling in thick and fast.

The second season of the series, which premiered on the streaming service on Boxing Day,  followed former bookstore clerk Joe Goldberg, now known as Will Bettelheim, as he moves from New York to Los Angeles in the hopes of leaving his dark past behind.

Unfortunately for Joe (and his victims), it seems old habits die hard. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Joe soon finds his new obsession, Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti).

Before long, however, the tables turn on Joe.

As the huge twist plays out in the final few episodes of the series, Love is just as (if not more) dark and twisted as Joe.

Throughout the season, viewers learned that Love had been stalking Joe for almost as long as he had been stalking her.

We also learned that Love, much like Joe, had a penchant for murder. In fact, she murdered Forty’s babysitter, Joe’s ex-girlfriend Candace and Joe’s neighbour Delilah.

Watch the haunting trailer for season two of Netflix’s You. It’s a lot. Post continues below.

After discovering Love’s dark side, Joe comes close to killing her until Love admitted that she was pregnant with his child.

At the end of the season, Joe and Love were seen moving into a new suburban house, with Love’s growing baby bump on full display.

But while the scene confirmed that Love wasn’t lying about her pregnancy to save her life, some fans have question whether the baby is Joe’s after all.

As Love briefly reconnected with her old flame Milo – who happens to be her late husband James’ best friend – there’s a new fan theory that Milo is actually the father of Love’s child.

After all, when Joe and Love broke up during the season, Milo was the only person that Love was ~physically intimate~ with.

And although Love told Joe she used protection with Milo, we now know that she’s essentially a professional liar, meaning there’s no doubt she could have been lying to Joe. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Mamamia Out Loud team discuss their favourite TV shows from 2019. Post continues below.

“Since Love is a professional liar, what if the baby is actually Milo’s and her saying she told him to use protection is just an excuse for Joe to stay with her,” one viewer wrote on Twitter.

“I believe the baby is not Joe’s, it’s Milo’s. After Love broke up with him, she had sex with Milo. Love and Joe didn’t get back together until he was getting ready to leave LA,” another suggested.

Another fan even theorised that Love may have used artificial insemination specifically to trap Joe.

There’s also a new theory that Love could have murdered her late husband James.

Early on in the season, we learned that Love is a young widow as her late husband, James, recently passed away.

Throughout the show, however, it isn’t explicitly revealed how James passed away. Instead, he’s simply described as being “sick”, with Love sharing that the doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

“What if Love poisoned her husband… you notice how she’s making treats daily… they couldn’t figure out why her husband died, but maybe she poisoned him over time,” one viewer wrote on Twitter.

“Love poisoned her husband, didn’t she? She said, ‘He got sick and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong.’ I’m guessing she killed him?” another wrote.

Either way, we’re certainly in for a wild ride in the next season.
