With a new season upon us, we’ve got that familiar urge to inject some life into our wardrobe.
Here to tell us exactly how to do that is Sportsgirl‘s Buying Manager and blogger Shalini Papas. Here are the two trends you need to get on board with.
1. Romantic and femininity
Get ready to swap your structured clothes for a floatier style.
“It’s one of the biggest trends driven by a return of soft easy shapes, flowly silhouettes and pretty florals. It’s a big shift from the key looks we saw dominate the trends last year, which focused on a paired back minimalism in androgynous shapes and colour,” says Papas. This means a whole lot more colour and print – and yes, florals for winter. But it doesn’t have to be overly girly.
Papas recommends pairing a gorgeous floral dress with boots and a boyfriend cardigan for day, then swapping your cardi for a biker jacket at night.
“My tip is to mix romantic pieces with everyday staples like denim or knitwear – simply change your footwear as required to transition from dressy to casual,” she says.

2. Globetrotter.
"Another big trend we've seen come through from the international runways is very much based on a free spirited globetrotter with bohemian and Western influences," says Papas.
"Layering is key when it comes to nailing the eclectic look - the more is more approach perfectly embodies this trend! You’ll see me favouring a slouchy cardigan styled over a vintage inspired band tee, high waist denim coupled with buckled western cut-out booties and layered chokers," she says.
Ultimately, it's about turning up the volume on last season.
"For me 2016 is about embracing a more relaxed, easy-to-put-together approach to dressing with a lot more colour and print, which I love."
