Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster Blake have a TV series in the works.

If this isn’t just the most wonderful news, we’re not sure what is.

Comedian and radio host, Hamish Blake, has confirmed he will be starring in an upcoming TV drama, The Wrong Girl, based on the book by his wife, Zoe Foster-Blake.

“I’ve been trying for years to seduce the creator of this show as she’s my favourite author,” said Blake.

“Hopefully my very, very small role in her show as a weatherman will do the trick.”

Whilst we’re completely over the moon Blake will be in the show, there are a bunch of other talented Australian actors to star in it.

Jessica Marais, known for her roles in Love Child and Packed to the Rafters, will play the lead role of Lily. The cast also includes Craig McLachlan, Kerry Armstrong, Madeleine West and Steve Vizard.

The Wrong Girl will be Vizard’s first role in a television show for a long time, after he stopped hosting Tonight Live.

“I literally signed on in the last few days. I know Zoe and Hamish well and thought it would be fun to work with them,” Vizard told the media.

“Plus my daughter insisted I do it because she has read the book and thought it was terrific.”

Speaking of working with your husband, Mia Freedman reveals what it’s like for her. (Post continues after video.)

Vizard also said he looks forward to working with Marais, as well as “old friends” Armstrong and McLachlan.

Channel 10 describes The Wrong Girl as a “contemporary romantic drama”, following the life of Lily (Marais) as she travels through life, dealing with good and bad dates, needy parents, she must choose between two guys.

One seems to perfect for words and the other is so bad that he could just be The One.

The Wrong Girl will begin shooting for the next three months across Melbourne.

Can't wait for this. Good Australian drama has sadly been mostly replaced by reality TV.
