While doing the media rounds for The Bachelorette, Angie Kent has been repeating one particular line.
It has been purposefully vague and not concrete confirmation that she’s still with the lucky man she chose at the end of filming.
Appearing on Mamamia‘s No Filter podcast, Angie repeated it to host Mia Freedman… but then she shared a little bit of extra info of how she and her chosen bachelor have been dealing with this awkward post-filming, pre-finale time.

Yes, they’re still together.
Angie gave no hints about who the winner might be, but she did give some insight into how they’ve been navigating this totally bizarre experience.
They’ve been doing “lots of texting” and “lots of calling”, but it’s definitely still weird watching their story (and her journey’s with other men) play out on screen, she said.
“It’s one of those things that we both signed up for this knowing, but this doesn’t mean that it’s not hard,” she explained.
“You can say that you’ll be fine, but when you see it, it can be quite confronting. I’m such a good communicator and he’s a great communicator that we talk about it… It’s not normal life, but this is our life right now.
“I’m okay for him to get upset and he’s okay for me to get upset. We’ve got a really good understanding with that luckily, otherwise it could make this a whole lot harder.”
She said she and her man get to see each other in secret, but not often. She explained it as being in the second stage of a three-stage process.

“When you’re filming it’s just the Bachie world, you’re constantly with a producer, you can’t talk with them off camera unless someone’s around… You’re dating in front of cameramen and producers and all that, but it does become real because that’s all you know. You’re in the Bachie bubble.
“So then once you’re out, that’s when it starts but still not really, because it’s once the show’s done you have a normal-ish relationship. It’s kind of navigating between filming, post-filming when you’re not together, you’re together but you’re not together, then starting your relationship properly once it’s all done.”
And yeah, she’s definitely looking forward to reaching that third step.
“I hate rushing things, I’m very much a big believer in even if it’s hard, this is my experience right now. Embrace it, get through it because I’m never going to have this opportunity again. We’re never going to have our love story again, but yeah I’m excited.
“I don’t want to rush this time because it’s so beautiful to watch it and talk about it, but yeah it’ll be nice to be normal-ish.”
Angie said her journey towards becoming The Bachelorette started after "one of the worst years" of her life.
After a couple of years of living between London, where she was an au pair, and Sydney where she continued to film Gogglebox, Angie moved home to Queensland, at first temporarily, to help out her family after her grandmother had a fall.
"She had a bit of a fall and her depression came back really bad," Angie explained.
"I moved home to get her into a routine, I lived with her for a bit, took some time off work. Then yeah, I came back the couple of weeks later and went to take her out for breakfast and when I got there she was dead. That really rattled me, I was like 'I don't want to be in Sydney living out of my car, living on people's couches'.
"I just wasn't in a good head space, so I just said 'Listen Yvie, would you be okay for me to not do next year [on] Gogglebox?' and she was like 'I'm done'. We've done four years, eight seasons, won three Logies. she was happy for me to move home, she could see I was struggling."
Angie said she moved home and "just surrendered".
"I was like 'I'm not planning my life, I'm not picking up and moving all the time like a crazy person, I'm just going to stay here with my family, look after my mum, just stay in one spot for a little bit and sort my head out.'"
But then she received a call to appear on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, and it ended up being the catalyst for her journey towards being The Bachelorette.
"I was like 'I've had the worst year, one of the worst years of my life and I didn't know who I was anymore'.
"I was like 'I think it'll be beautiful to be stripped of all my vices, thrown into a jungle, no phone, not worrying about my family, just getting to know all of this. I loved it. It was a rest, it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I never would've done Bachelorette without the jungle."
The jungle helped Angie realise she was ready for love, something she'd avoided up until now. So when she left South Africa and that same day received a call from Channel 10, she took it as a sign from her Nanny.
"I just took it as a sign. I was like 'Yup', didn't even think about it. I was like 'This is the way she wants me to find love and this is the way I'm doing to take it'."
We're so glad she did.
