Often it's not The Bachelor Australia success stories that we can't get out of our heads, but the hilariously awkward dates.
There have been some seriously iconic moments from the dirty street pie to the contestant who chowed down on a rose at a ceremony. And who could forget the moment Angie Kent's brother went undercover at the first cocktail party to weed out the douchebags. Ahhh memories.
And in interesting news, we might be in for another round of iconic moments as there are reports The Bachelor Australia is coming back in 2024.
Watch the moment Angie Kent's brother goes undercover. Post continues below.
But then there are some serious doozies — the cringiest of the cringe encounters.
So for a good throwback laugh, we decided to look back on the moments we can't forget — for all the wrong reasons.
THE blended avocado.
Ivan was one of the most entertaining contestants to ever grace The Bachelor Australia franchise.
In 2018, he appeared on Ali Oetjen's season of The Bachelorette. He was best known for his dancing and a bizarre mishap with a humble avocado.
The night he was sent home, he and another fellow contestant had to battle it out and make a banging meal for Oetjen, and basically whoever did not perform would be sent home.
For context, it ended up being Ivan who was sent home. And we're blaming it on #avocadogate.
While trying to make a healthy chocolate mousse for dessert, Ivan used avocados as the base, which is completely fine. But what he did was put two WHOLE avocados (yes the avocados still had their skin on and a giant pit inside) in a blender.
Despite it taking a lot of time and determination to blend the whole thing, Ivan managed to do so — all while Oetjen and the other contestant vowing for her heart were having a deep and meaningful conversation in the other room.
Later reflecting on that iconic moment, he told Now To Love: "I've seen it on my toast and you know, in a breakfast meal, but I'd never physically cut one up myself."
The group date with bridal gowns and hacking one another's bouquets.
Another date that comes to mind is when the contestants wore bridal gowns and had to cut one another's fake wedding bouquets, all in a bid to win the heart of a man, aka Matt Agnew.
Part one had the women run around madly trying to catch a bouquet that Agnew hurled at them from a giant slingshot.
Part two was when the wedding dresses were brought out and the women left in the mini-group date comp had to answer a set of humiliating questions about their child-bearing capabilities. How sweet!
When one failed to answer a question correctly, another fellow bridal-gown-wearing contestant could cut her bouquet arch. And yes, it was as much of a fever dream as it sounds.
The third-wheel date between Felix, Jess and her boyfriend Damien.
This was the storyline that carried the latest season of The Bachelor, while simultaneously pissing off every single viewer. One of the three main guys, Felix, was pretty much infatuated with contestant Jess, but Jess wasn't keen on monogamy. Fair.
She had a 'boyfriend' of sorts on the outside, his name being Damien. And seriously, Damien may as well have been the fourth Bachelor considering how much bloody airtime he received.
Perhaps the date that made us want to stick pins in our eyes was the final meet-and-greet between Felix's family and Jessica's family... and DAMIEN.
It was messy, cringe, frustrating, funny in some parts and just a complete clusterf**k of a situation.
A coffee scrub date that didn't look as fun as producers expected.
There's nothing better than a bit of raunch and lust on a single date on The Bachelor. In fact, we love it.
But this one didn't quite hit the benchmark.
In 2019 in Matt Agnew's season, he took one contestant for a spa date of sorts where they each had a coffee body scrub. Now anyone who has had a body scrub can vouch that it's usually a great time. Although this one didn't look sexy or relaxing.
Rather, it looked quite uncomfortable. During the close-up of Agnew's face, it looked like the scrub was also in his mouth and eyes, which never feels great. If only they had gone down the chocolate bath route like Ritchie and Alex.
Sophie Monk's infamous hometown visit with Stu Laundy.
Anyone who has watched Sophie Monk's season of The Bachelorette knows she was given a very average line-up of men. In the end, Monk chose well-known publican Stu Laundy, rather than pot-plant-wielding Jarrod.
But Laundy still wasn't exactly everything Monk had said she wanted from a partner. Especially when it came to an interest in having kids.
While on the hometown visit, Monk was aboard Laundy's fancy superyacht and likely thinking things were looking up. Then he delivered the news that he already had a vasectomy...
"I've had a vasectomy," he told her before straight-up bailing on the awkward situation. "I'll get you some wine."
While he was gone Sophie mouthed to the camera what many at home were thinking: "S**t."
To really then sink the boot in, Laundy decided now was the perfect time to tell Monk he was still technically married to his first wife, the mother of his four children. The paperwork had been a slow process, he said, leaving Monk pretty flabbergasted — and us at home cringing at the awkward encounter.
Ultimately, you can always count on The Bachelor Australia franchise to never shake its cringe era. Hooray!
