After it was announced that she will host the Today show alongside Karl Stefanovic (and the lovely, but non-Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson), it seemed only fitting that Sylvia Jeffreys let her other Stefanovic-shaped cat out of the bag.
28-year-old Jeffreys has confirmed Australian television’s worst kept secret: she is dating Channel Nine Europe correspondent (and Karl’s brother), Peter Stefanovic.
Speaking to Sydney Confidential, Jeffreys said: “If anyone knows how much of a privilege this role is, it’s Peter. He’s really thrilled and excited for me.”
The pair reportedly started going out when they hosted Today together over the Christmas break.
Alas, with Peter based in London it seems that Jeffreys will be seeing more of Karl than her Stefanovic of choice. And she’s ready for it.
“[I] know that I will be arriving everyday with a big target on my back,” she joked.
Jeffreys will sit behind the Today news desk on a permanent basis from Monday, taking over from Georgie Gardner, who was farewelled last week.

I seriously wish we could start seeing a more diverse group of women on tv, especially the commercial stations. Honestly, channel nine women all look the same, blonde, thin news-reader types. Whenever I watch British tv, I'm struck by how much more amazing their female tv hosts are. They're big, small, black, in their 50's and 60's but most of all, they are INTERESTING and have lived lives that you want to know more about. They haven't just read the news or done the weather for a decade.
Once you've seen one Stefanovic, you've seen them all.
