@eleanorhahah every scene it's a different Hemsworth playing the same character
It fit the theme of risking your life to save someone elses. Olivia helped save Kieran. Toby and Finn tried to save Sean. Brian wanted to help Gabby.
So, if it's something that I'm not really familiar with myself, I'll seek out experts. For The Survivors, which touches quite a lot on guilt and grief and regret, I spoke to a clinical advisor from Beyond Blue about the impact that will have on mental health, particularly around young men, and the kind of treatment they're offered and the kind of success rates they have with various different options for young guys and things. Once I've kind of identified, I guess, what the themes are going to be, I try and really represent them in a really respectful, accurate way.
There was an interview where Jane was asked about the realism of her characters, citing her depiction of Dementia, she responded with this
I found it interesting that Verity stopped correcting Brian- -or reminding him, rather, that Kieran WAS NOT Finn. Maybe one is not supposed to correct a person with dementia. For me, this just reinforced how little both concerned themselves with the feelings, well being, and mental health of their LIVING son.
don't worry not like there's a killer around
Leaving his kid on the beach was a bit silly though!
I wonder if towns around Tassie are gonna start claming to be the inspiration for Evelyn Bay
Definitely need more books set in Tassie, it's such an interesting landscape
Yeah I agree with everyone!
Yeah I think she used our expectations of what we'd expect based on her previous work to throw us off a bit
How would you rate this one compared to Jane's other books?
