Peoples' comments asking for her mum to edit their photos too is what's wrong with society today. Our society has become so image-obsessed that we would prefer to send out fake images. It's just wrong.
To know the risks and to then keep posting seems negligent and egocentric. Our society has become so obsessed and addicted to social media and posting images, and we continue to find ways to justify robbing our children of their right to privacy. I find it abhorrent. 10+ years down the road since Instagram took off, all these dangers and risks are being exposed and yet people still post images of their children. It needs to stop.
It’s not right to suggest that girls who attend same sex schools don’t know how to deal with the real world once they finish school. I went to a girls school and I absolutely loved it and thrived. I didn’t feel wrapped up in cotton wool. Instead I felt empowered to be a woman and encouraged to strive and work hard to achieve what I wanted in a wonderful environment in those crucial early adolescent years.
It’s a choice. A very public one, but still a choice. Every job has its pros and cons. These are the cons of being an influencer. If you can’t handle it, change jobs. It’s hard to sympathise when these influencers try so hard to dupe/influence/sway/convince/deceive/sell/promote/etc the general public.
It’s exhausting hearing how tired everyone in general is, kids or no kids. This article was tiring.
Love this! Thank you for sharing.
Why do we continue to post images of our kids online when we know the risks? Aren’t there better ways to share with family and friends in more private settings if that’s what you want to do?
I don’t understand the point of social media anymore. “Here are curated images of my life where everything looks perfect and wonderful [please like, save etc] but also, what you see isn’t real and it cost a tonne of money, time, stress, etc to get this perfect image for you to like.” I also cannot understand how our generation is still comfortable with giving up the right to our children’s privacy for the sake of likes on Insta. It’s 2023, haven’t we moved on?
