This sounds like coercive control and if this was her daughter she was talking about and her boyfriend was doing these things, I feel the advice would be very different.

I would do this for my friends and I would really hope that they would do the same for me if we found ourselves in this situation

For me I don't believe it was body positively that killed weight loss companies such as Jenny Craig, but more so education around diets and how ineffective they are for long term weight loss. I watched Todd Sampson's Mirror Mirror and I was blown away hearing the statistics of what percentage of diets don't work long term and that people will gain all the weight back (and sometimes put on more weight).

My eyes started to fill with tears reading this. I quit teaching 5 years ago after an incident where I realised that my job is in the hands of angry teenagers - if you did something to upset them they could make up a story that you said or did something inappropriate and then you are suspended until it is investigated or worse fired.

My friends mother would read Enid Blyton books to us when we were little and she would change the characters names to Frances (Fanny) and Richard (Dick) as the times had changed and these names were no longer widely used and we would consider to be rude words.  

This is also an issue at my gym, I tried the HIIT classes a couple of times only to find that i was being filmed (mid burpee) and then posted on their Instagram. I tried to seek advice if this was legal to do without my consent and the only information I could find was that they can because it's a public place. I guess I am old fashion from a time where it was against the law to film someone without their permission. I have stopped going to the classes but I do miss them.
