I’m a 48 yo woman and have been diagnosed with 3 seperate melanomas over the last 3 years. All detected early and surgically removed. The only reason the second 2 were found early was through regular skin checks (6 monthly). I also have 5 nodular BCCs that require an excision to remove that I will be doing this year. On top of that approximately 20 BCCs that require a topical treatment. I have been diligent with sunscreen and exposure over the past 10 years. Most of my damage was done in my youth growing up in a coastal community going to the beach and living life in the outdoors. I have fair skin that tans, in hindsight it is clear that this is a risk category that I’m now aware of. Regular checks, full body photo mapping and limited exposure to sun is the way forward for me.
