Students need to ultimately pay back the cost of lectures, tutorial, resources etc to gain their degree. Let’s be grateful that HECS exists.. It’s no less of a responsibility than a car loan.

I really feel for you. It’s lifting to read that you have your beautiful daughter. Your son has obviously inherited misogyny. All I can hope for is that your ex husband keeps showing his true colours to women over and over again, thus becoming the clear, common denominator. However I feel for all of those poor woman.  Big love to you.

I had no idea it was like this for our wonderful vets, until a few years ago I ran over my little sausage dog. I rang my vet panicking, who assured me to come right in. She dropped everything to tend to my little dog. She told me the cost, and I was so pleasantly surprised - it was my fault that I ran her over, of course it costs a sum of money.. a few days later I called her and told her how appreciative I was.. I didn’t expect her reaction, but she cried and told me she has never had such great feedback., I couldn’t believe it. Have an animal, expect the consequences and don’t dare take it out on the ones that have spent years dedicated to the profession of helping.

Here I was thinking the author worked hard to build her own energy-efficient house complete with sustainable energy, rain water and vegetable gardens, and exchanged home grown food for other sundries.  Instead, the author is sponging off someone else who contributes effectively to society. Even if the author “achieves” a fossil-free life, it’s at someone else’s expense. We all did this once before - it was called childhood.

If this is about the kids, I’m struggling to understand how asking for a HUGE 7% pay rise is going to fix the obvious funding issue here for more teachers in classrooms?

If you genuinely have a debt, then it means you have benefited financially throughout the year. And if you believe the debt isn’t genuine, you can ask for a review. I received a debt, but I paid it off knowing I had benefited with extra CCS throughout the year. I do think some people get a debt and then immediately get defensive by default!

@snorks absolutely agree!
