With not one, but two, royal weddings this year, we are so very spoilt.
It’s now been declared Princess Eugenie will marry long-term partner Jack Brooksbank in a ceremony on Friday, October 12, that mirrors elements of her cousin’s wedding which took place in May.
Like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the ceremony will take place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and the couple are inviting 1200 lucky members of the public which will be selected through a ballot system, similar to the one used at this year’s nuptials.
Announcing the news on the royal family’s official Twitter account, a spokesperson said those invited will be able to view the arrival of “the congregation and Members of the Royal Family, listen to a live broadcast of the Marriage Service and watch the start of the procession as the couple depart at the end of the Wedding ceremony.”
And just in case you’re planning a London holiday sometime in October, we’ll pop the application link right here.
Princess Eugenie, 28, met her wine merchant fiance in 2011 at a Swiss ski resort and they got engaged while on holiday in Nicaragua in January of this year.
Speaking to the BBC’s The One Show about their engagement, the couple described the romantic outdoor proposal.
“We had a beautiful volcano, [the] sun was setting, birds were flying,” said Brooksbank.
“The lake was so beautiful,” added Eugenie and said she was completely surprised.
“The light was just a special light that I’ve never seen. I actually said, ‘This is an incredible moment,’ and then he popped the question.”
After their wedding it’s not known whether Brooksbank will receive an official ‘Earldom’ title as Princess Eugenie isn’t an official working royal. Despite this, she will have the option to take her husband’s surname and change her title to ‘Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank’.
This follows similar royal protocol set by the 1963 wedding between Princess Alexandra Angus Oglivy and was followed by Princess Anne when she married Captain Mark Phillips in 1973, both of who didn’t take on a royal title.
Relive all the beautiful moments from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s truly epic Royal Wedding.
