When Prince Charles continued to pursue Duchess Camilla after his divorce from Princess Diana in 1996, not everyone was best pleased.
According to royal writer, Katie Nicholl, Prince William did not warm up to his new step-sister Laura Lopes, who is four years his senior.
Writing about their relationship in her 2010 book, Harry and William, Nicholl says William and Laura would regularly fight about their parents.
“William and Laura used to have terrible fights over who was to blame for their broken homes,” she wrote.
“William would blame Camilla for all the hurt she had caused his mother, which would send Laura into a rage.
“Laura was not having any of it. She would take a hard line and fire back at William ‘your father has ruined my life.’”
Prince William and brother, Prince Harry talk about their mother, Princess Diana in a rare interview.
During the years leading up to Prince Charles’ 1996 divorce from Princess Diana, his long-term affair with Camilla was exposed when tapes of their conversations were leaked in 1992. Three years later, Camilla would divorce her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, before going on to marry Prince Charles a decade later.
Laura Lopes also had issues with adjusting to Prince Charles’ presence in their lives.
“When Charles telephoned Camilla at the family home in Wiltshire, Laura would pick up an extension and shout down the receiver ‘why don’t you stop calling mummy and leave our family alone,'” wrote Nicholl.
“She couldn’t care less that it was the Prince of Wales, she blamed him for breaking up her parents’ marriage and was not afraid to tell William so.”
However, as they grew up, the step-siblings' relationship gradually improved. They both attended their parents' wedding along with their respective siblings Prince Harry and Tom Parker Bowles.
In 2011, Laura's daughter Eliza was a flower girl at Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton.
“When they stopped blaming one another’s parents and let go of their painful pasts, Laura and William got along well," wrote Nicholl.

I think I’ve figured out why we’re getting so many ‘old news’ stories here. It’s all Marie Kondo’s fault! She’s got everyone cleaning out their houses, and the op shops a full of new stuff. Someone has obviously gone in and found an eight year old book about the royals, and decided it would make some great articles. (Also, I saw this exact story, from Katie Nichol’s book, in the Daily Mail a day or two ago. Seriously, are they your source?)
Do you have a life? Or are you a professional commenter?
It was a pretty funny comment though.......
