So here we are again bringing to you Amanda's makeup expertise, this time — her product recommendations for an easy, everyday natural makeup look for those in their 40s and 50s.
From a hydrating sunscreen (perfect for those with dry skin) to a foundation that evens out the skin (great for masking pigmentation) Amanda has you covered!
Keep scrolling for some of the best makeup for mature skin.
1. Coco & Eve Daily Water Gel SPF50+ Sunscreen, $39.
Fast facts:
- A lightweight and hydrating SPF.
- Provides UVA and UVB protection.
- Has a non-greasy formula.
- Is infused with hyaluronic acid, aloe vera (helps protect sensitised skin) and vitamin E (nourishes).
- Cruelty-free and vegan.
Of course, first step is always SPF! Amanda suggests a sunscreen that's also hydrating, particularly if you have drier, mature skin.
"My skin is already prepped. A really important first step is to make sure you've hydrated your skin so it’s not thirsty."
2. MAKE UP FOR EVER Reboot Foundation, $72.
Fast facts:
- A foundation that gives a natural, luminous, skin-like finish.
- Comes in 27 shades.
- Is infused with skincare ingredients to improve skin over time.
- Has a brightening, smoothing and firming effect.
- Feels hydrating on the skin (good for those with fine lines and extra parched skin).
- Is long-wearing and feels comfortable on.
Amanda says this is a cult fave amongst makeup artists because it's lightweight and gives a beautiful finish to the skin while allowing it to "still look like skin".
For those who want lighter coverage for everyday makeup wear, this is for you.
3. Jane Iredale Active Light Under-Eye Concealer, $69, and Eye Of Horus Triple C Concealer, $33.75.
Fast facts:
- A nourishing concealer with vitamin C.
- Has a natural finish with medium, buildable coverage.
- Texture is creamy with a smoothing feel.
Amanda uses the Eye Of Horus concealer to bring a bit of "light-reflecting quality" to the centre part of her face.
This seems to be a very popular concealer, so if sold out, a great alternative would be the Jane Iredale Active Light Under-Eye Concealer, which is also great at helping to brighten and mask tired-looking eyes.
Together with the foundation, this balances out the whole complexion in an easy and effective way.
4. Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm, $52.
Fast facts:
- A creamy cheek colour that delivers a healthy flush to the face.
- Has an oil-free formula so skin isn't left looking greasy or wet.
- Is easy to apply (can be blended with fingertips).
- Comes in a variety of three lovely shades: Amp'd Up Apple, Robust Rhubarb and Roly Poly Rosy.
The five-star reviews mostly give this popular Clinique blush credit for its long-wearing effect and beautiful finish. Amanda loves and uses it for bringing back life and colour into the complexion.
"This is more of a balm texture, so it's sheerer, which is really lovely for just a nice everyday option. I adore a peachy shade like this."
Amanda's shade pick is Robust Rhubarb and she's a big fan of this shade for giving her makeup look and her face an overall fresher finish, which she says is especially great for those in their 40s, 50s and 60s.
5. Eye Of Horus Luminous Highlighter, $42.
Fast facts:
- A creamy, liquid highlighter that comes in three flattering shades.
- Can be used on its own to bring extra luminosity to the tops of cheeks or can be mixed in with your foundation or moisturiser.
- Is vegan and ethically sourced.
Amanda uses the shade 'Sunset Rose' in her YouTube tutorial for its pinkish undertone and subtly highlighting the tops of her cheekbones.
She then goes in with the Nude by Nature Sunkissed Pressed Bronzer, $42.95, and sweeps over her cheeks and face to warm up the complexion, and a bit over her eyes for some extra shape and colour.
This is Amanda's quick and easy hack for getting the most out of one product and says it makes "your peepers pop with minimal effort".
6. Benefit Gimme Brow + Volumizing Gel, $48.
Fast facts:
- An eyebrow gel that gives a natural-looking fullness and definition to the brows.
- Has a tiny, tapered brush for easy application.
- Holds hair in place and maintains the natural shape and structure of your actual brows all day long.
- Contains tiny microfibres that grip to your brow hairs minimising gaps and sparse areas.
If like me, your brows are non-existent, the brow pros at Benefit have you covered if you want to pump up the volume on your arches.
Amanda finds Benefit Gimme brow is a quick and easy brow product to use for delivering some added shape to the brow.
She also finds the tiny spoolie makes getting into those little brow hairs a lot easier and more precise, as well as mess-free.

7. Benefit BADGal Bang Volumising Mascara, $49.

- Is smudge-proof, water-resistant and has a lightweight formula.
- Promises 36 hour volume (not suited to those with lash extensions).
- Contains ProVitamin B5 to help strengthen lashes.
"Next step in my classic everyday makeup is mascara," says Amanda.
"This BADGal mascara from Benefit Cosmetics, the wand, it's narrow, it's tapered, it's really easy to get right into the root of your lash."
According to Amanda this is also a great one for adding definition and length to your lashes.
8. Ultra Violette Sheen Screen SPF50 Lip Balm, $27.
Fast facts:
- The famous Ultra Violette lip balm has had a glow up! Now comes in more shades with higher SPF.
- Offers broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
- Has a silky gloss finish and contains shea butter, sustainable lanolin and cacao seed butter to make sure lips are hydrated and nourished.
A lip product that ticks all the boxes — adds a wash of colour, offers sun protection and gives you a hydrated pout making those harsh lip lines less noticeable.
This is Amanda's go-to for a juicy lip balm and keeping those lips looking natural but still with a hint of shine.
