Open Post: What's happening in your world?

Welcome to Open Post!

For those of you who haven’t been here before, Open Post is where we talk about everything that has happened in our week. We cry, we commiserate, we laugh and we have a looooong debate about whether dark or milk chocolate is better. Dark, obviously.

This week I am dreaming about the trip to Europe I am planning to take next year.

The first step was obviously to set my desktop background to the Eiffel Tower for inspiration. And to set weekly calendar reminders of “367 days until London!”

I am nothing if not prepared.

Stage two is not booking flights (that’s easy, right?) or deciding on accommodation. No, it’s deciding what to DO.

So I need your help this week, commenters.

I’m going during the European winter (January and February 2016) to London, France, Germany, Amsterdam and Switzerland. I know – FULL ON. Ideally, it will be a week at each destination.

Who’s been to Europe?

Mostly, I want to eat chocolate and cakes in every patisserie I bump into.

Because the office fridge looks like this today, and my sweet tooth is inspired:

What’s been happening in your week?

I'm so glad I clicked on this. I'm going on a three month trip to Europe in July. Flights and a tour is booked, the rest is up to me. I have a fairly good idea of the things I'd like to do and see. Does anyone have any tips that are easily missed for a Europe trip?

Also book Anne Franks house if you are going to Amsterdam online. Everyone who booked it online got to walk straight in and everyone else waited for 2 hours.

And get there about 15-20 minutes before it opens to avoid massive queues.

I've been, same kind of timing as you twice. Loved it. It's cold but that's what I like about it. Lots of layers, things look so pretty, spats of snow or lots of snow depending where you go. You will love it. Lots of planning to go, enjoy reading up. Good week but my eye scrape has been affecting me this week. Thought it had healed but no, opened my eye on Tuesday morning and it ripped all over again. Not quite as bad as the first time but hey it still hurts. Boys are loving childcare/kinder. All is going well. Open day at primary school we're thinking of sending our oldest to on Saturday. Looking forward to it. Have a great rest of the week everyone xo

OUCH! :( I hope the pain gets better soon. I'm so excited... but I'm thinking I may need to head to Kathmandu for some winter warmers... X
