'I'm obsessed with Christmas movies. Here are the 7 best new ones you need to watch.'

There is nothing I love more than a Christmas movie, especially if it's cheesy, goofy or best of all, so unashamedly bad that it's good.

Once you've scheduled in your viewing of the classics (my holy trinity is Elf, The Holiday and Love Actually), you're going to need to fill the rest of the holiday period with festive goodness.

Thankfully, each year were are #blessed with wonderfully ridiculous movies to enjoy.

Here are 7 new Christmas flicks to watch this silly season.

Falling For Christmas - Netflix.

Let's start with the obvious.

The biggest draw for this classic so-bad-it's-good Netflix rom-com is Lindsay Lohan.

That's really all I needed to know before pressing play, but FYI: she stars as Sierra, a hotel heiress who loses her memory in a skiing accident and ends up in the care of a widower (played by Glee star Chord Overstreet) who owns a struggling lodge.

There's approximately five tropes in that one sentence alone.

It's formulaic, packed with cliches and goofy as hell, but isn't that exactly what we want in a Christmas movie? Anyway, bring on the Lohanaissance.

Christmas With You - Netflix.

There's been a lot of talk about the Lohanaissance, but I have not seen anywhere near enough chat about the Freddie Prinze Jrnaissance (ok, so it's not quite as catchy).

In this very paint-by-the-numbers rom-com, he plays Miguel, a single father and music teacher alongside Aimee Garcia as Angelina, a burnt out pop star desperate to escape it all.

When Angelina sees a video of a fan singing one of her songs, she decides to visit her and make all her dreams come true. There, she finds the inspiration she needed to revitalise her career but also, well, you can guess it already: love.

You'll be able to map out this script before you even hit play, but Prinze Jr and Garcia have great chemistry and the wonderfully cliche themes of grief, family and love during the holidays ensure it is a sweet way to spend 90 minutes.

Christmas With You is streaming on Netflix.

Spirited - Apple TV+.

Absolutely no one asked for a musical retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. But that doesn't mean we're mad about its existence.

You know the story: each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Ferrell) selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits.

But this year, he has picked the wrong Scrooge in Clint Briggs (Reynolds), who turns the tables and makes Present examine his past, present and future instead.

It's a ridiculous film, but it's stuffed with enough self-aware comedy, genuine heart and tap-dancing to keep you entertained.

A Christmas Ransom - Stan.

Okay, what if the dumb criminals from Home Alone were Australian, and had their sights set on a toy store rather than Macaulay Culkin's extravagant family home?

The adventure begins when the store is hijacked on Christmas Eve by a pair of bumbling criminals, who hold the struggling owner for ransom. A pair of shoplifting kids stumble into the heist and must team up with a heavily pregnant security officer to save Christmas.

Created by the same team that brought us A Sunburnt Christmas in 2020, the film stars Matt Okine, Logie Award-winning Miranda Tapsell and Ed Oxenbould.

A Christmas Ransom premieres December 1 on Stan.

Your Christmas Or Mine? - Prime Video.

Students Hayley (Cora Kirk) and James (Sex Education's Asa Butterfield) are young and in love. Just before Christmas, they part ways at a London train station to head to their respective family festivities.

But at the last minute, each of them makes a split-second decision to swap trains and surprise each other. Oops.

Hayley arrives at James' very fancy family home only to learn that Christmas may as well not exist, and James arrives to pandemonium that comes with a large family Christmas at Hayley's.

Unfortunately for them, a major snowstorm traps each of them - not only keeping them apart for the holidays, but also throwing each of them well and truly in the deep end with each other's families.

Of course, traditions are turned on their head and family truths reveal that the star-crossed lovers still have a lot to learn about each other.

Your Christmas Or Mine? premieres December 2 on Prime Video.

Something From Tiffany's - Prime Video.

It's not really Christmas until a rom-com with New York City as its main character.

This year, Something From Tiffany's brings the NYC goodness. The film, co-produced by Reese Witherspoon and her company Hello Sunshine, stars Zoey Deutch as Rachel.

She's happy enough with her boyfriend Gary (Ray Nicholson), but not ready for a big commitment like marriage just yet.

Meanwhile, Ethan and Vanessa (played by the offensively good-looking pair of Kendrick Sampson and Shay Mitchell) are just about to take the plunge.

When a mix-up of gifts sees Rachel receiving an engagement ring not meant for her, it sets off a series of twists that leads them to where they're ~truly meant to be~.

Something From Tiffany's premieres December 9 on Prime Video.

Violent Night - in cinemas.

Okay, okay I hear you. Rom-coms aren't your thing, or you're dying for some cinema popcorn.

How about David Harbour as a not-so-saintly Saint Nick?

When a team of mercenaries break into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, they aren't at all prepared to take on Santa, who happens to be on the grounds.

The name really spells it all out, and as the mercenaries learn, Santa's down to deliver season's beatings (lol).

Violent Night is showing in cinemas from December 1.
