Here you’ll find reviews of the best beauty products that launched in January 2024, as well as the old favourites we’ve rediscovered.
Australis Lip Glaze in 'Dirty Chai', $16.95.
"Australis dropped this nourishing lip oil recently, and it's an absolute treat. It's hydrating, delightfully non-sticky and gives you a perfect hint of colour and shine. It comes in seven different colours — I'm currently loving 'Dirty Chai'." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter, $77.
"Calling all Brazilian Bum Bum Cream fans! With delicious notes of vanilla orchid, sugared violet, and sheer sandalwood, Sol de Janeiro has launched a new body butter (and perfume mist!), and yes, it smells YUM. It has a whipped creamy formula and gives your skin the most beautiful velvety finish. I want to bathe in it." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Face Cream Moisturiser, $35.99
"This is the perfect option for those who don't want to drop of heap of money on retinol (read: all of us), but still want noticeable results (also, all of us). It offers the best of both worlds — it's gentle and comfortable on the skin (even if you're someone with sensitive skin) while still being incredibly efficacious. My skin looks more even, brighter and clearer (it's less red and blotchy). The best part? It won't break the bank." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Who is Elijah Ocean Eyes, $55.
"I’m a fan of all the Who is Elijah fragrances (EAU is a personal favourite that I’ve bought again and again). I’ve recently been wearing this one, Ocean Eyes, and it really smells like the ocean, summer and salt." - Isabella Ross., News Writer.
The Jojoba Company Australia Pure Jojoba Gel Mask, $34.95.
"I'm loving this Pure Jojoba Gel Mask — I got it in a 'Stealing' Santa at Christmas, and it was a good steal! Super hydrating, gentle and has basically no scent. It's so good for sensitive skin or if you don't like strong smelling products on your face as you try to sleep." - Rebecca Sonnex, Senior Sales Manager.
MECCA MAX Pout Pencil Lip Liner Fancy, $16.
"I bought this yesterday afternoon - it's going on it's maiden voyage today - but so far I like it. It offers a little bit of colour that doesn't feel overly bright or heavy, is creamy in texture and has lasted through the humidity on the very damp commute this morning." - Andi Baulderstone, Strategy Manager.
Dr. LeWinn's Daily Cleansing Balm, $33.
"I LOVE a good cleansing balm, and this newbie from Dr Lewinn's is excellent. It melts away makeup like a dream, and with ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, squalane and hyaluronic acid, it leaves your skin feeling balanced, hydrated and happy (not a lick of tightness)." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Maybelline Lifter Plump, $20.99.
"You guys, Maybelline just dropped a brand new plumping lip gloss range - and these are SPICY (they're *literally* made with chilli pepper!). It gives your lips a hit of colour and high shine (perfect for wearing over lip liner or lipstick) and instantly makes your lips plump and juicy. It comes in three different shades - 'Blush Blaze' is my fave." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Go-To De-Crease Eye Smoothing Serum, $55.
"In case you've been snoozin', Go-To launched its first-ever vitamin A product.! It's a retinal eye serum, that's also formulated with fantastic ingredients such as peptides and niacinamide. I've only been trialling it for a couple of weeks and my eye area already looks fresher and brighter. I'm excited to see more results — so I'll keep you posted!" - Erin Docherty Beauty & Health Editor.
Biomiq Skincare Acne Skincare Bundle, $107.98.
"As a resident oily/acne-prone girly, I'll get my hands on basically anything tailored for my skin type, just to see if it helps my EXCESSIVE oil production. (It never seems to have a day off!). I've been trying biomiq's Acne wipes in the morning and their Acne serum in my evening routine this month, and I’ve definitely had less frequent breakouts and reduced redness already (particularly on my chin). The wipes do have a bit of a 'clinical' scent, but nothing too spicy." - Shell Webb, Branded Content Manager.
Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick, $45.
"I love so many cream bronzers but this one takes the cake. It's so warm on the skin, buildable with a gorgeous coverage that leaves the skin looking sun-kissed (but not orange!) and I get why everyone on the planet seems to have this in their makeup bags. I was extremely late to the trend but I'm on it now and I'm never getting off!" - Shannen Findlay, Content Porducer.
Sunset Daze Liquid Rays, $59.
"I mix these bronzing drops with my moisturiser and it’s the perfect coverage for me with a bit of my favourite concealer on top where needed. Plus, the bronzing drops are the perfect amount of glowy without too much shine." - Isabella Ross, News Writer.
Tarte Shape Tape Radiant, $51.
"Yes! Tarte launched a shiny new version of the cult Shape Tape concealer - and as someone who doesn't get along with the OG, I was intrigued to see how it played with my dry skin. And you guys, I think we're friends?! It's more of a medium coverage compared to the original version, and also a little sheerer and more hydrating. It's perfect for fresher, brighter-looking eyes." Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Kotia Hydrating Day Cream SPF15, $42.
"I'm loving this moisturiser from Kotia - was given some for Christmas - and it is so lovely on the skin." - Belinda Cook, Head of Audio Sales.
Flower Light Illusion Liquid Foundation, $14.
"This isn't a new product, I know - but it's fairly new to me (despite the ragged packaging) and I need you to know how much I love it. Because it's replaced my super spendy Giorgio Armani Foundation (which is usually around 100 bucks) and is just as good. It gives my skin the most beautiful, glowing, your-skin-but-better finish. And you can grab it for $14. Sometimes even $10. Massive fan." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Ori Lab Moisture Foam, $42.95.
"I really like using this product to hydrate my hair when it feels dry and brittle. Ori Lab is great at making products that nourish the hair and this Moisture Foam is no different. It helps keep wavy or curly hair looking healthy and frizz-free- without feeling oily or over-styled! It's a brilliant product - one I found myself reaching for when I'm on day four of not washing my hair (don't judge me pls)." - Shannen Findlay, Content Producer.
Guilty Elixir De Parfum Pour Homme, $220.
"Sophisticated, sleek and sexy, this is one of those fragrances that'll have people stop and ask what you're wearing. The compliments are REAL and I'm not going to lie - it always feels good. The scent is warm, yet somehow fresh and floral, with hints of ambery leather and patchouli. And the bottle! So chic. It's spendy, but gosh it's good." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Software Hyaluronic Complex Serum, $49.
"My face loves a hyaluronic acid serum, and even though I’ve had a favourite for a very long time, I’m always trying new ones — and I’ve found a new contender for the top spot in my bathroom cabinet. This serum is really lightweight and absorbs beautifully, without leaving a tightness I’ve experienced with some very other HA serums. And it leaves my face feeling juicy and delicious and isn’t that the whole point?!" - Alix Nicholson, Weekend Editor.
iS Clinical Poly-Vitamin Serum, $117.
"It's on the expensive side, but if you're going to spend on serums - this is one of those do-it-all ones for when your skin just needs a serious pick-me-up. It contains antioxidants, as well as hyaluronic acid and niacinamide and gives your complexion a solid boost of hydration and radiance for vibrant, healthier-looking skin. Love." - Erin Docherty, Beauty & Health Editor.
Plendi Mud Mask, $58.
"I’ve been using the Plendi Mud Mask a bit lately and loving it for its super bump-clearing skills. It’s a face mask, yeah, but also sort of an anywhere-on-your-body-you-get-breakouts mask (don’t pretend we haven’t ALL known the joy of bacne or buttne). Plus, it’s Aussie made and owned (love that), and my skin just feels cleeeean and fresh after use." - Alix Nicholson, Weekend Editor.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipgloss in Caramel, $31.
"This lip gloss saves me every time my lips look cracked or too matte. It's SO glossy, SO thick and creamy on the lips and doesn't fade or vanish after 40 minutes. It's a really pigmented gloss too so I always use it when I go OTT on the lip liner and want to make my lip for the night look a little more subtle. This shade 'Caramel' is a soft pinky brown colour that looks beautiful on all skin tones." - Shannen Findlay, Content Producer.
Aerre Eau de Parfum in Summer Reverie, $35.
"Affordable. Sexy. Long-lasting. This fragrance is PERFECT and inspired by Viktor&Rolf's Flowerbomb. Gorgeous smell. I am now obsessed with the brand and will be buying everything from them for the rest of my days." - Shannen Findlay, Content Producer.
Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint in 'Bare Raspberry', $62.
"I purchased this Bobbi Brown lip tint in 'Bare Raspberry' from Mecca - lush!" - Belinda Cook, Head of Audio Sales.
Blossom & Sky Hydrating Body & Hair Mist, $49.
"I can't get enough of this Blossom & Sky Hydrating Body & Hair Mist. Will spritz my face whenever I get the chance as the scent is just SO fresh! Purchased it after a visit to Byron Bay, where it was stocked at a local boutique and I met the owner of the brand — such a lovely lady with a passion for natural skincare and all ethically made here in Aus which we LOVE!" - Emma Wilde.
Cremo Pablo Santo Cologne, $60.
"Anyone who knows and loves Santal 33 by Le Labo but CANNOT afford it, should immediately go and purchase this gorg cologne by Cremo. It is, by far, one of the nicest scents ever for those on a budget. It has a mellow and earthy fragrance that also kicks your senses a little. I'm not a cologne/perfume fanatic but I always get stopped to ask what I'm wearing. It's ALWAYS Cremo! Side note: it's also an amazing scent to layer if you want to deepen your perfume." - Shannen Findlay, Content Producer.
