SPOILER ALERT: The winner of the marathon MasterChef finale is revealed in the bottom of this post.
After saying goodbye to gorgeous Perth bartender Jessica Arnott on Sunday, we were all on the edge of our seats to see who will take the prize in last night’s MasterChef finale.
Billie McKay and Georgia Barnes went head to head in Monday’s 2.5 hour finale.
With our rumbling stomachs already beginning to growl, we spoke to the masterminds behind MasterChef to find out the top 5 things you need to know about the finale.
1. Georgia was the rumoured favourite to win.
Even after fumbling in her service during last night’s semifinal, fans reckon Gerogia’s emotional reaction to the judges gave her an unfair sympathy vote.
2. No one knows who won… not even the winner.
Like many Aussie reality shows of late, two alternate endings were filmed, with the winning contestant only finding out today along with the rest of the nation. Apparently keeping the secret of who won a whole THREE WEEKS before the final aired was so unpleasant in series one, the whole system was rethought.
Shame on you, fake audience cheering! How will we ever trust you again?!
3. The challenge was set by Heston Blumenthal.
In an interview following her exit from the show, Jessica has said tonight’s challenge is “the hardest one yet”, and that she was “definitely jealous” of Heston’s kooky recipe we have in store.
4. This is only the second time it’s been an all-girl finale.
