Mary Coustas welcomes a beautiful baby into the world.

Australian actress Mary Coustas has given birth to a baby girl.

The 49-year-old comedian, who is known for her beloved character Effie, is also well known for candidly speaking about her fertility struggles.

Coustas and her partner George Betsis have welcomed their daughter Jamie Betsis into the world.

On Facebook George Betsis posted: “We’re so very happy to announce the arrival of our much anticipated baby girl Jamie Betsis. Baby & Mother are in exceptional health, father still doing cartwheels. More details to follow in the upcoming weeks. Thank you for all your messages of support & love throughout this journey. Mary & George xxx”

Congratulations to the whole family!

Previously, Mary Coustas sat down for an interview with Mamamia publisher Mia Freedman, and talked candidly about the pain of her struggles with fertility. Then we wrote…

You may think you know Mary Coustas. Her alter-ego, Effie, has been part of Australian comedy for decades. But this is one story you probably didn’t know. It’s raw, it’s honest, it’s heart-wrenching and it’s one that needs to be told. For all the women who have experienced similar tragedy and for all those who might one day meet such challenges down the road.

Please watch and share with anyone you know who might benefit from feeling less alone in their loss…
