Police have shared details of finding the bodies of the Manrique-Lutz family in their Davidson home following their deaths.
Good Weekend reports that police were not legally able to enter the home without reason for concern that the family might be in danger. As a result they opened a side gate so they could get a view inside a window. The police caught a glimpse of Fernando Manrique's body, which motivated them to break into the home.
Officers then found the bodies of an adult Maria Lutz and her daughter Elisa lying side by side in a bedroom. In the next bedroom, they found the bodies of Lutz Manrique's son Martin and the family pet dog, Tequila.
Ceiling fans were on in all the rooms. Allegedly to circulate the carbon monoxide gas.
2. Victorian woman finds live snake in her Christmas tree.
A Frankston woman was shocked to find a live tiger snake wrapped around her Christmas tree.
Professional snake catcher, Barry Goldsmith, was called to the site and said that the woman remained calm despite finding the venomous snake in her Christmas tree.
“This lady was pretty cool,” Goldsmith told the Herald Sun. “I’ve had [people] screaming and crying.”
Goldsmith released the tiger snake into the wild after retrieving it from the tree.
3. Midyear budget update to be released today.
Treasurer, Scott Morrison, will be announcing the details of a midyear budget update today.
Economists have predicted that there is a 50 per cent chance that Australia could lose its triple-A rating.
"A downgrade would hit confidence, raise borrowing costs and be a huge embarrassment for the government," Nine News Australia reports.
"We have been working for sometime to get spending under control, to get the budget back into balance as soon as possible and we have been making progress at every budget and budget update," Finance Minister, Mathias Cormann, told Sky News on Sunday.
4. 66-year-old woman killed in hit-and-run accident in Sydney.
A 66-year-old woman has died in hospital after being hit by a car Sydney's west last night.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Hawksview and Cecil Streets in Guilford.
Police are now searching for the driver of a yellow Falcon sedan that drove down Hawksview street.

5. Sunny Christmas day predicted across Australia.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has updated its Christmas day weather predictions and it looks like its going to be a hot day Australia-wide.
Each state is predicted to experience a traditionally warm Aussie Christmas with weather upwards from 30 Degrees Celsius.
Adelaide is predicted to be the hottest at 37 Degrees Celsius, followed by Perth at 35 Degrees Celsius. A top of 28 Degrees Celsius is predicted in Sydney and Brisbane, 30 Degrees Celsius in Melbourne and 32 Degrees Celsius in Canberra and Darwin.
