Open Post: Come and tell us about your week.

The pain of breaking your wrist as an adult.

Welcome back to Open Post. For anyone who’s new here, this is where we get to talk about what’s going on in our lives this week – the funny, sad, awkward – nothing is off limits.

I’ll start. I’m not going to deny it. I’m a klutz. I always have a stain on my shirt and I have a weird collection of bruises I don’t remember getting. This week, I managed to outdo myself and break my wrist.

So, what does that mean for a klutzy, left-handed woman? Six weeks of total impending awkwardness.

Here are just a few of the awkward activities I’ve experienced so far.

1. Eating.

I’m pretty sure it’s scientifically impossible to put on weight when half the food doesn’t even make it into your mouth, so that’s a plus.

There’s also that mortifying moment when your dad has to cut your food in public.

2. Showering.

This requires some serious innovation. Think hospital vomit bag, elastic bands and enough cling wrap to make even Dexter concerned.

3. Dressing.

While I have mastered the art of the one-handed pant pull, the bra is a whole other issue. Let’s just say my mum and I have gotten particularly friendly of late.

How’s everyone else’s week going? Does anyone else feel my cast life pain?

As a fellow klutz, I survived a weekend of mountain bike riding only to break my toe by stubbing it on the shower! Your post made me grateful I can dress myself, as my injury only makes wearing shoes and walking difficult! At least we can laugh about it....

Nope, mm community has left the building. I'm so sad about it all. This place was such a great space
For b & w & OMM. I haven't written anything as I figure no one will respond!

No one cares any more. The new site layout makes it impossible to find this post - and I predict this reply won't be posted because feedback about Mammamia's cluttered and woefully hard to navigate site are ignored.
