Editor's Picks: The one where we only recommend stuff that's on sale.

Because paying full price is for suckers…

There is a serious sense of personal achievement I get from buying something on sale. Somehow I feel like I’ve cheated the system, or even better that I’ve saved money. Because really, if the dress is 50% off and I don’t buy it then that’s 50% I did not save. A travesty, yes?

This week’s editor’s picks are entirely dedicated to things on sale. Whether it’s home wares, accessories, clothes or make-up, each of these items is considerably cheaper than usual.

And that means there is no excuse not to treat yourself.

1. Venice Dress from Rodeo Show.

RRP $349.00    SALE $249.00

My husband hates this colour because it reminds him of high school uniforms but he is not only mistaken in this dislike but is also a total idiot. This shade is a WINNER.

Anything on the red wine colour spectrum (technical term) will complement most skin colours and always looks elegant. The knotted wrap style of this dress is flattering and the split hem is a little bit flirty, without revealing thigh (always a plus if you’re like me and prefer to hide that particular part of the body).

2. Double pouch shopper from Marcs.

RRP $129.00   SALE $89.00

You need a silver bag. You do. Brown, black and cream are not fun – they are boring and basic. If you are in the market for an instant mood booster but can’t afford lots of new clothes, a brightly coloured bag is a great way to go. And unlike a prominent bold fruity shade, silver goes with most things, so you can tote it anywhere.

3. Kakadu dress from Sheike.

RRP $129.00   SALE $49.00

Why do I even need to convince you? Look at the print, look at the price: Decision made.

4. Calvin Klein Skin Illuminator from Myer.

RRP $35.00   SALE $17.50

Until this year I did not know what an illuminator was but luckily I work with a bunch of beauty experts who write for our sister website The Glow and they put me onto the stuff. If your skin tends to look a little dull and you want to brighten it up without going to the trouble of eating well or exercising – illuminator is your best friend.

5. Kanya Waterfall Cardi from Cotton On.

RRP $29.00   SALE: $20.00

It’s getting colder but not cold enough for a coat. Enter: the cardigan. This one is an interesting but neutrally coloured print that will go with most things. It is super comfortable and doesn’t have those horrible fiddly little buttons either.

6. ‘The Life Lived’ Boyfriend Jeans from Sass & Bide.

RRP $320.00   SALE $150.00

Most Australian women have that friend who is evangelical about Sass and Bide jeans. For my mates? I am that person. I am told that i’s deeply annoying because nobody wants to be told that spending lots and lots more money is the answer to making denim work for you. But sadly, it’s true. Jeans are an investment and worth spending on.

Right now you can take a pair for a test run for less than half the usual price. Thanks Sass and Bide.

7. Grammar Crop Tank by Viktoria & Woods.

RRP $129.00   SALE $89.50

I love a floaty top with a high neckline. You can wear it to work and look office-appropriate, while also taking it out on the weekends with jeans or dress it up with long, draped, glittery necklaces for evening. Oh, and you can eat as much yum cha as you want and not bother sucking in your belly because nobody has to know you ordered four of the prawn dumplings. Ha.

8. Ashdene ‘La Cocina’ Water Pitcher from Myer.

RRP $39.95   SALE $27.97

I am trying to make myself drink more water. It’s not working.

Perhaps this pretty jug will help.

9. Premonition Flume Dress in Geo Print by Fox Maiden.

RRP $89.95   SALE $69.95

Yes, I am holding onto the last fleeting moments of warm weather – what’s it to you? This dress is a summery, fun print but without the really short hemline which seems to be on trend right now. I really enjoy a skirt or dress that cuts in just below the knee; it makes me feel like a lady. This frock also exposes the most underrated and seriously attractive part of a woman’s body – the lower neck and back.

Seen anything good in the sales? Spill.
