The fairy tale is over. Lachlan McAleer and Belinda Reid are no more. Yes, roughly one month after the cameras stopped rolling on the latest season of The Farmer Wants a Wife, the popular pair have decided to go their separate ways.
Speaking to TV Week, the 37-year-old New South Wales cattle farmer said that he and the wise-cracking blonde beauty from Victoria just couldn’t go the distance.
“We were trying back and forth and spoke on the phone all the time,” he said. “But the distance makes it really hard.”
Even when they did manage to traverse the border to visit one another, Lachie’s farm work would inevitably have to take priority. Then throw in the fact that they had to keep their relationship status on the down-low until the finale went to air, and you haven’t exactly got a blueprint for a rock-solid relationship.
“It was very tricky because you couldn’t just go out for dinner in case someone spotted you,” he said.
Of course, this wasn’t the farmer’s first rodeo. Lachie also found (temporary) love on controversial matchmaking show Married at First Sight. That ended in much the same way, with a post-filming split from his match, Clare. But the salt of the earth farmer isn’t planning on giving up his search for a missus.
“There are lots of good people out there and it’s just trying to find the right one I suppose.”

So if he has to do so much work down on the farm, how did he have so much time to appear in 2 x rubbish reality television shows?
Ok, that's it, no more dating show for Lachie. In fact, no more tv shows at all for him, as it is now starting to show that it's all he is really interested in.
